I am intrigued by this feat from the Player's Guide to Faerun, which allows a character to use their strength bonus instead of their dexterity bonus on attack rolls with thrown weapons. But I am beginning to wonder if the feat is as good as I first thought. Is it useable to optimize a thrown weapon character?

Some factors to keep in mind: It is a regional feat, so other regional feats are out. The character must be human, dwarven, lizardfolk, or orcish, so Hulking Hurler is probably out as well. Likewise, the regional requirement means no Hammer of Moradin.

Given these factors, could an axethrower character hope to compete with an Invisible Blade/Master Thrower type character?

So far, I think the best idea I have had is a dwarf Ranger 2/Barbarian 2/Fighter 1/Exotic Weapon Master 3/Master Thrower 5 who takes Two-Weapon Fighting, Rapid Shot, and hurls Dwarven Waraxes. For their Master Thrower abilities they would probably take Doubletoss, Two with One Blow, and maybe Deadeye Shot.

Frankly, I'm not sure that's optimized well and I am at a loss as to where to go from there. Some prestige class that increases strength would be ideal but Frenzied Berserker seems like a waste given the feat investment required and that Power Attack is not useable at range.

Does anyone have any ideas for building a character around the Axethrower feat?

There are some amazing high-strength throwing feats in a Dragon magazine issue. I think it might be the one with the Summon monster guidelines.
