| Shadowbane12-30-04, 02:43 PM | Azaer lvl 16 paladin of freedom/warmage/Dragon disciple ( copper ) Azaer was born into slavery in Thay 26 years ago. His parents died aiding in his escape from thier cruel master. His escape was successful thanks to the sacrifice of his parents. He was found wondering aimlessly, half starved and very near to death from exposure when a group of Harpers came upon him. He was taken to Waterdeep and raised by a church dedicated to Mystra. There was no denying his prowess in melee combat. The clerics could also sense a great magical power within him. After a long debate ( in which The Harpers had more than small hand ) they decided to send him to a secretive academy known only by harper agents. Where his skill with a blade was honed to near prefection. After a few years at the academy training as a paladin squire, his latent magical abilities began to surface more and more. After another long debate, they ( Harpers ) decided to send him to Tarth Moorda where he was to under-go the rigorous waremage training. Azaer dedicates his life to the fight for freedom. He is currently waging a guerilla war against Thay, and can be found in the areas surrounding the foul kingdom. He is often keeps an eye for capable adventurers to aid him in his cause. | Shadowbane12-31-04, 02:12 AM | No comments? :raincloud I thought this class (warmage) was a joke until I read the skillful weapon desricption in the CA which made this class viable. At first when I saw the mage progression BaB I turned the page and never looked back. This a great build imo. Well now I have merged 2 classes that I thought were garbage and I think the results are fantastic. |
| khaalis12-31-04, 03:12 AM | Skillfull is a really nice power. Personally I think it might be a wee underpriced at only +2, but hey, I wont look a gift horse in the mouth. This is a Must have for any melee oriented Gish (including the melee Warlock/Mystic Theurge build I am designing). I dont have books handy, but why no PrCs? I think many of the PrC options would grant better abilities than holding out for higher levels of Warmage. Just a thought... |
| Shadowbane12-31-04, 01:25 PM | Revised the build so this comment is void. |
| Shadowbane12-31-04, 02:49 PM | NM revised the build |
| Shadowbane01-01-05, 06:11 PM | 200 peeps have looked at this and not a single comment. Why is that? Does it suck or is just not optimized? Before making this character I though the warmage and dragon disciple both sucked. But mixed in this class makes it very powerful. Look over it more closely to see what I mean. I will have 10 level 3 spells per day at CL 12. That means 10d6 fireballs and very good melee prowess. |
| Wizu01-01-05, 09:28 PM | Well, I doubt it sucks, but miracles do happen and sometimes you succeed to make a build without flaw in it. When you dont have a flaw innit, peoples dont point it out at you. See, if you were to take the first level feat as skillfocus professions (slave), now then you'd have like dozen more posts in this before you fix it. Just some food for tought. |
| ninjarabbit01-01-05, 09:50 PM | I'm kinda meh about your spell selection, too many damage spells and not too much else. Your spell list needs more flexibility methinks. Some spells I think you should look at are ray of enfeeblement, haste, vampiric touch, touch of idiocy, and shield. |
| RabidWeasel01-02-05, 07:36 AM | He's a warmage, they only know a limited number of spells and almost all of them are of the direct damage variety. |
| Shadowbane01-03-05, 02:01 PM | I'm kinda meh about your spell selection, too many damage spells and not too much else. Your spell list needs more flexibility methinks. Some spells I think you should look at are ray of enfeeblement, haste, vampiric touch, touch of idiocy, and shield. I wish I could. Thats why I hate the warmage, because of these reasons. Can cast in armor but has no BAB at all. So why the need for armor when you should never be anywhere near the fighting without being able to actually fight with any prowess. I looked for any loop hole that would grant the spells ray of enfeeblement or mirror image etc, but found none. I think the feat "extra spell" may grant me this wish but I need to go over it with the DM first. Azaer would open combat something like this. He may cast flaming sphere if he has the high ground advantage. If not he will lay in wait and drop a fireball on them before charging in. Before closing to melee distance he will cast ring of blades on himself unless the party has clerics that will dispel it immediately. He also enjoys casting fireburst when he gets surrounded. Azaer depends heavily on his intellegence he gathers. Alot of times he will face many foes on his own. Revenge is a dish best served cold. I think I should maybe drop posion as a spell and take something else. It kinda doesnt fit the paladin motif. Any thoughts on this? |
