This is my first time posting, and I am sorry for asking so much when I haven't contributed in the past. With that said please consider what you would do and if you would tell me why you would do it.

My DM is having a birthday game this weekend. In the past birthday games have been TPKs, so this will be a throw away character. With that said I am looking for a 9th level character with the following stat numbers that haven't been dedicated yet. 18, 14, 14, 14, 12, 11. The DM said that any 3.5 books are available for use, but I try to stick to what I have personally available, which are the 3 cores, Complete Adventurer, Expanded Psionics Handbook, and Savage Species. This character will need to work with a party in some situations but need to stand alone also in many cases and most likely the other players will choose a nuetral alignment so their characters can run from the danger if they so desire. For this character I like the idea of being LE, but I am not stuck on that. What is the best you have with that in mind, oh and money is the max a 9th level character is allowed according to the books when starting a high llevel character, sorry I cannot quote the number for you. I don't have the books with me. Additionally I like to play psionic charcters, but I am not stuck on that either.

Thank you for any input you might give, :D
Brian.

Make a psi warrior 6/slayer 3. though the stats aren't that great for this...

Another good idea is a cleric or druid 9.

also you could be a barb 5/fighter 4 or for the dual wield, you could do barb 5/ranger 5. focus on melee fighting in Light armor. Or a fighter 4, slayer 1, warmind 4.

Please note that these are all off the top of my head, but should be good/fun characters to play.

Technically the stats do not have to stay that way other than the 18 the rest are point buy, but only 25 points to spend on the five stats.

I have always tended towards balanced stats, but I have played a number of rolled characters with only one good stat, so don't let my common practice stop you from coming up with a good build.

Thanks,
Brian.

Aside from the broad catagory of psionics, what kind of character do you like to play? Which role? What kind of combat-style? Survivable/reckless?

My favorite characters in 3.0 were Egoist that simulated monks. My favorite role is probably along the lines of a mystical warrior or witch doctor. My favorite combat style is a swashbuckler type. Lots of movement with potential for lots of damage.

Thanks again,
Brian.

A LN or LE cleric of WeeJas has always sounded good to me also, using the Death & Magic domains, but the only time I really lloked at this closely my goal was to get to True Necromancer and so that was just a stepping stone without a great deal of thought outside of it.

Just another idea that floated through my head,
Brian.

Sounds like an Elocator. Psywar/Egoist/Elocator gets you lots of movement with lots of damage potential, in spades.

Alright I think I have narrowed it down after looking through the psionic PrC, I saw the Elocater, which I was thinking would be cool with the Up the Walls feat, plus if I can incorporate Spring Attack I think this could become a good build. Now I am wondering if I should take a level of barabarian to increase my movement. Apparently someone else is thinking along the same lines because I just received Amphetryon's posting. So what is the best build for a high combat Elocater.

Thanks again,
Brian.

Wow, Spring Attack is a pain in the butt Prerequisite. It pretty much excludes Psion for a level 9 build, and forces you to take levels of fighter or psiwarrior on level 5 if you want to get flanker by 9.

Two possible builds:
Less Casty-More Beatie:
Azurin(MoI)
Barbarian1:Azure Dodge(MoI), Mobility
Fighter1: Feat
Psi-warrior1: Feat, Feat
Fighter2: Feat
Psi-warrior2: Spring Attack
Elocator1-4:Feat,Feat

Benefit: 6 free combat feats, 5 powers (including 2 Level 2 Powers), rage, speed +10
Downside: Squat for PP, and a ML5

Wilder-Fu
Human:
Wilder1-4 Dodge, Mobility, Feat
Fighter1: Spring Attack
Elocator1-4: Feat, Feat

Benefit: ML7, Lots of pp, Surging Euphoria +1, 4 powers (1,1,2,3)
Downside: Small HD.

I do not have MoI and probably won't get it any time soon, so I would like to avoid material from there because I cannot verify, without barrowing, what it will do for my character.

Thank you anyhow, maybe I should just drop the spring attack or take it after the fact of going to Elocater, which would give the better build, with the constraints I have placed so far?

NP with MOI, that was just an extra touch. Human and Dodge function just as well. Unfortunately, spring attack is a pre-req for Elocator, so you can't take it after going into that PrC.

Doh! I knew that!

I will look at these further tonight. Got to go put out a metaphorical fire now.

Thanks again,

I am intrigued, but the character is not the most optimal so I won't post it here. If anyone comes up with better ideas let me know. I made a barbarian 3/psychic warrior 2/elocator 4.

Have fun,
Brian.

Alright I tried the Elocater again, this time I built it 4 levels of Ftr, 1 PsW & 4 levels of Elocater. I took Wild Talent as my human feat at first level, which allowed me to take the other feats I wanted before even qualifying for Elocater. I like it and will probably play it. Yeah it is low on PPs but I didn't want to really use that many PPs anyways. Of the four powers I have taken three are not terribly helpful, but they make sense for the character. The fourth is Skate which will add another 15 to my movement rate.

Precognition, Defensive: Gain +1 insight bonus to AC and saving throws.
Skate: Subject slides skillfully along the ground.
Vigor: Gain 5 temporary hit points.
Biofeedback: Gain damage reduction 2/–.

Feats are Wild Talent, Dodge, Up the Walls, Mobility, Speed of Thought, Weapon Focus(Axe, Throwing), Spring Attack, Psionic Dodge, Ghost Attack.

All the psionic feats I took require a psionic focus, but none require expendeture of the focus so focusing once a day should be sufficent, unless I get knocked out which means I am dead any how.

Thank you for the jumping off point,
Brian.

Cleric 5 / Servant of Bharrai 3 / Monk 1

You get Polymorph into Bear Form for free and spell casting progression. Only down side is D4 HD on SoB.

You can thrown in Vow of Poverty for some craziness.
