| Thalis02-27-05, 08:37 PM | is there a way for this to work? the best i can get is bab 15/9th lvl spells or bab 16/8th lvl. i'm sure there's a PrC out there that will work nicely. i'm looking at using fighter, battlemage and eldritch knight. thanks for any help. edit: typos. |
| carnivore02-27-05, 08:38 PM | try looking thru this thread: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=307309 :D |
| Aegea02-27-05, 09:01 PM | you are evil man gish = evil .... :) |
| Cold Napalm02-27-05, 09:24 PM | See battle mage is your problem...go wizard and problem fixed... Actually you want fighter 1/battle mage 6/spellsword 1/dragonslayer 1/EK 10/blade singer 1. See BAB 17 and CL 18. You can drop one of the 1 level PrC for a caster PrC/battle mage and still have BAB 16 and 9th level spells. |
| Debug0x2a02-27-05, 10:16 PM | If you start with Fighter 1, Wizard 6, Eldritch Knight 10, Spellsword 3, u have BAB of 17 and CL of 17, you can tweak from there depending on how you want it to operate. Put in stuff like bladesinger or other casting PrCs depending on what kind of mage you want it, or if you want to tip it toward BAB or CL |
| Lord Likk02-27-05, 10:34 PM | the highest strengths attainable in 3.5 dnd are done so through the giant size spell. shapechanging into a titan, using giant size, and wearing a +6 item yields a strength of 80, not to mention the ability to wield colossal+ weapons for . . . 12d6 damage with a greatsword. monkey grip makes 16d6 and heavy weapon prof makes 24d6. that's quite a lot of damage when you factor in +52 from strength and who knows how much from power attack. how about something like . . . wu jen 5/eldritch knight10/spellsword3/dragon slayer1/exotic weapon master 1 that's assuming you take militia at lvl one. this way, you str bonus to damage increases to +70 due to uncanny blow. tenser's transformation will allow you, surely to put all 20 b/a into power attack (you'll still have at least +35 attack without it) for +60 damage on a leap attack. making it a multiheaded titan makes for more ridiculousness and more hp, but assuming you just wield one, big (perhaps reach, perhaps not) weapon, 24d6+130 averages out to 210 damage per hit. |
| Debug0x2a02-27-05, 10:40 PM | sounds good, but ull need a fighter like level somewhere at the beginning for weapon proficiencies. Thats a prereq for EK |
| Lord Likk02-27-05, 10:50 PM | it gives you proficiency in all martial weapons (eldritch knight's exact requirement). if you can't forgotten realms stuff, then yeah, you'll need a lvl of fighter before eldritch knight, and you'll thusly need to ditch spellsword 2 and 3 to still get 9th lvl spells. you could take archmage, or more wu jen, for those levels; even 1/2 b/a will still net you a 16. |
| Debug0x2a02-27-05, 11:09 PM | sry, that was a typo, i meant without fg stuff ull need the fighter level. but yeah, as i said, sounds good. |
| PhaedrusXY02-27-05, 11:32 PM | A very simple build that gets BAB+16 and CL 18 without using a boatload of books and one level dips: fighter1/wizard8/EldritchKnight10/Spellsword1. Take the spellsword level as soon as you qualify for it. The only book outside of the core 3 you need is Complete Warrior for Spellsword. Adding Twilight armor from the Book of Exalted Deeds is a good idea too, though. |
| Debug0x2a02-27-05, 11:41 PM | The build i put up previously isnt quite optimized, but its meant so that u can remove the last 2 levels of spellsword and put in other classes (like 1 of bladesinger) or switch out some of the wizard levels for a wizard prc if you feel like specializing your magic a bit. Its at BAB 17, CL 17, but you can drop 2 spellsword levels for 1 wizard level and one bladesinger level to make it BAB 16 cl 18, along with switching the 6th level of wizard for a prc wizard, along with the 7th level if you are taking one. |
| Marcus Majarra02-28-05, 03:19 AM | My current Gish build is: Warmage 8 / Fighter 1 / Spellsword 1 / Eldritch Knight 10 BAB 16 CL 18 Casts in full heavy armor and light shield at level 9 with no arcane spell failure (through Battle Caster). |
| NineInchNall02-28-05, 03:20 AM | Here's the best I came up with: Using UA and Draconomicon: Battle Sorcerer 8/Dragonslayer 1/Eldritch Knight 10/Spellsword 1 CL 19 = 8 + 1 + 9 + 1. BAB 18 = 6 + 1 + 10 + 1. Gish Quotient 37 = 19 + 18. ... Wheee! That's about as close to optimal as possible, I think. The upside of this one is that that using Complete Arcane can net you full casting in medium armor (Feat = Battle Caster). You also have a d8 hit die for your first 8 levels. Nothin' to sneeze at over a d4. Downside: Battle Sorcerers know even fewer spells than regular sorcerers. :weep: |
| Cold Napalm03-01-05, 01:46 PM | Not quite what your looking for...but my current gish is a Fighter 1/wizard 6/spellsword 5/EK to end. BAB 17 and CL 16...with practiced CL 20 for spell effects. Key being I can abuse the hell out of spell channel and make my DM cry. He thought spell channeling an empowered vampiric touch followed by a spell stored vampiric touch was broken...boy was he wrong hehe. Anyways umm doesn't the battle sorcerer only get 1 martial weapon and hence can not quailify for dragonslayer/EK? Also likk, you know you have to take dragon slayer BEFORE spellsword right? For the armor? |
| NineInchNall03-01-05, 02:08 PM | Dragonslayer's only requirements are Iron Will, Dodge, BAB +5, and Tumble 2 ranks. The Battle Sorcerer gets into after level 8. The prestige class _grants_ all weapon and armor proficiencies, thereby qualifying you for Spellsword _and_ Eldritch Knight. :D Take 8 levels of B.Sorc., then a level of Dragonslayer, a level of Spellsword, and finish off with 10 levels of EK. This way you've only had to spend two feats to qualify for prestige classes, and you haven't had to lose casting progression either (before EK, that is). |
| Debug0x2a03-07-05, 04:02 AM | Heh, how about Rogue 2/Druid 1/Battle Sorceror 4/Virtuoso 2/Bladesinger 1/Sublime Chord 1/Fochluhan Lyrist 9 That gives you 5th level druid spells, 9th level sorceror spells, and a base attack of 15 unless you want to go by the unearthed arcana variant rule for fractional base attack. Doesnt quite fit what your looking for I dont think, but it does make for an interesting character. |
