Hi all,

It's been a long time since I last created a character so I thought I would submit this one to you CO people...

basically, I want to create a 14th level Gish Human girl who will be a good balance between spells and melee. I do not want her to be a tank (girl tank= no style).

now you have to know that in the group there will be a windwalker with full priest caster progression and some rogue as well. there will also be another character, but it will not be an arcane spellcaster.

basically, because of this overpowered windwalker, I do not want to do a tank character (that's gonna be him) nor a full wizard/sorcerer (i like a bit of style)

when i created this character, i had in mind the picture of the girl page 220 DMG 3.5 (elven chain mail)...

now onto the build:

Fighter 1 / Wizard (specialized) 6 / Divine Oracle 2 / SpellSword 5.

BAB +10
Caster level 11
8 feats +1 wizard feat (1 lost for Div. Oracle prereq)

at this stage, I really want channel spell. this means 4 level of SS = 2 CL lost.

I know that BAB +10 is suboptimal and that +11 would get me an extra attack, but I have to choose between BAB +11 and access spells level 6.

the other possible build would be something in the line of

Fighter 2 / Wizard 4 / SpellSword 5 / DragonSlayer 1 / Divine Oracle 2

this does: BAB +11, CL 10, 9 feats (3 reserved for DS and DO prereq)

or

Swashbuckler 3 / Wizard 3 / Spellsword 5 / Dragonslayer 1 / Divine Oracle 2

this does: BAB +11, CL 9, 7 feats (3 reserved for DS and DO prereq), but gains int bonus to dmg (is it worth 2 feats?)

so far, my idea is that in the first build (my favorite so far), I loose an attack but gain spell level 6 = channel disintegrate.

because I will already have a tank in my group, i want to be able to have quite a few support arcane spell (this is pretty much equal in all 3 builds), but the option to channel disintegrate means that I can get some good damage in (but that will be only 1 or 2 times a day)... in exchange for that 3rd attack.

I just feel that this 3rd attack is not really usefull anyway, as I will not have much to boost my attack bonus anyway.

please advise. I am open to all suggestions as long as it stays relatively close to this build...
note: I have considered going 2 weapons with BAB +11 and greater TWF but i havent found a satisfactory way to increase my attack bonus so I had to let go, but if you have some good tips...

edit: also, I am not too sure on which feat selection to go for... in my first choice build, I dropped Dragon Slayer because I think that 2 times improved toughness is better than those PrC bonuses.

Personally I think the third attack is worth it if you take the arcane strike feat since that'll up your chances of hitting with it. If you're going 5 levels of spellsword you are going to be somewhat tankish if you like it or not and it will be hard to maintain CL since you're giving up at least 3 caster levels for it (one from fighter, 3 from SS), but since you really want channel spell:

human or elf paragon3/fighter1/wizard2/spellsword5/eldricthknight3, BAB 12, CL 9, 4 bonus feats, you can substitute Divine Oracle for EK if you really want.

wizard10/dragonslayer1/spellsword3, BAB 9, CL 13, only one level away from channel spell and you lose very little CL

wizard with milita feat6/eldricthknight2/dragonslayer1/spellsword5, BAB 11, CL 11, finish this build off with EK and you'll be able to cast 9th level spells (just wrong for channeling) and have a BAB of 17

thanks for this imput.

yes, in any case, i will go for arcane strike, but is that enough to make the 3rd attack worth ?

can you detail a bit more the last build ?

do you need Dragonslayer to enter EK or can you just take another level of eldrich knight (+1 BAB and +1 CL also but you dont have to spend 2 feats).

edit: if i decide to go for CL 9/10 (and loose level 6 spells), what do you think of Swashbuckler vs Fighter ? Int bonus to damage seems very nice with a wizard really... but is it worth the loss of feats ?

Militia is a Forgottem Relams regional feat that gives you all martial weapons, so a wizard 5 with militia qualifies for eldricth knight (need all marital weapons and 3rd level arcane spells to qualify), though I'd go to wizard 6 for the +1 to BAB and all saves.

You don't need dragonslayer for EK but you do need it to get into spellsword because of the heavy armor requirement for SS if you don't take any fighter levels.

Personally I don't think swashbuckler is worth it unless you want to be a tank since it takes a 3 level investment, that combined with the 5 levels of SS means at best your CL will be 15 at level 20.

well we're just playing a one shot or so, hence the focus on 14 levels only... I dont really care about CL afterwards. same with BAB: either i have 11 or I have less...

thanks for your imput though. I'll give it some thinking.

any other comments/ideas ?

thanks
