Barb/Fighter TWF build [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-30-03, 02:11 PM Okay, they say this place is where you go for help, so here goes:
3.5 build, trying to stick to mostly cannon WotC books, or at least no Rokugan.
Barbarian/Fighter who specializes in two weapon fighting, both swords, one bigger than the other.
Oh, and we're also just now about to hit 10th level. Brute style combatant.

Any recommendations?

11-30-03, 04:58 PM While not a very efficient min/max archetype, we should still be able to help you make him fairly effective in addition to being interesting from a unique RP perspective.

To maximize the TWF concept, you should be adding additional damage multipled such as Sneak Attack dice, Divine Might feat damage, etc. Which means a dip outside the Bard/Ftr core you are aiming for.

Does any of this interest you and how many "definitive" levels of Barb and Ftr do you insist on maintaining prior to branching out. Give us something like Ftr2/Bar5 or something like that so we can see where we can branch out your build.

11-30-03, 05:11 PM I would recomend the snow tiger bezerker feat from the FR the far east. It allows you to take a full attack when using a light weapon(s) on a charge. Thus I would look at something like to start
1Bar snow tiger
1(H) two weapon fighting
2 Fig power attack
3 Fig power lunge
6 weapon focus (I prefer handaxe)
9 imp two weapon fighting
..... then finish it off with rogue so it ends up at level 10...rogue5/fig3/bar2

On a charge while you rage when the opponent is flatfooted...4 attacks all double your strength mod (or full on the off hand) for damage plus 3d6 sneak on each hit and magic weapon stuff.:smirk:

But, sticking to core, bbn and ftr, 1 large sword and one small:

1) Bbn1 - exotic weapon: bastard sword
2) Ftr1 - weapon focus: bastard sword
3) Ftr2 - weapon focus: shortsword, two weapon fighting
4) Ftr3
5) Ftr4 - weapon specialization: bastard sword
6) Bbn2 - weapon specialization: shortsword
7) Ftr5
8) Ftr6 - two weapon defense
9) Ftr7 - improved critical (bastard sword)
10) Ftr8 - improved critical (short sword)

Of course, all this assumes you have at least a 15 DEX. Very feat intensive and not so efficient. You'll get much better returns out of a greatsword weilder than twf. You also have to double up on the feats this way (weapon focus twice, weapon specialization twice, improved critical twice). You get much more bang for your buck with a greatsword or two shortswords (but I prefer the greatsword, myself).
