| WalkenDude08-13-06, 02:36 AM | Fighter 6/ Barb 5/ Weretouched Master 5 going on lvl 17. We're playing the Age of Worms and there are big baddies everywhere that I'm having trouble hitting. I'll haste myself and if I'm lucky I'll be able to hit them with my frist 2 swings. I'm going to end up taking fighter and barb to 20 being that I couldn't find any other class that I wanted to take that fit my alignment(I didn't want to go Frenzy Bezerker and kill off my whole party.) I'm looking for for some gear to boost my chances of hitting. I have a +6 Belt of Giant Str but nothing else to help me out. I was thinking of a blur ring to get around mobs dex bonus but most of these guys are so big they dont really have one. So I'm out of ideas. We're in Eberron and I can use any WoTC book. Any help would be great, thanks. I have about 35,000 GP to spend. EDIT: Please tell me what book an item is in, I'm just coming back to DnD from a year break. |
| gorfnad the shiznit08-13-06, 04:35 AM | What are your character's stats, feats, ability scores, race, ect...? What other gear do you have already? What weapons are you primarily using? What are the other members of the party? |

| Lord Zeb08-13-06, 08:12 AM | QR - Your attack bonus for the weapons while shifting is off... BAB 14 + STR 16 + 1 or 2 magic = +31/26/21 for the sword, +32/27/22 for the club Hasted gives you another +1 and another attack, which is what you want. Another easy way to up your AB is to have your party wiz or cleric cast Greater Magic wpn on one or both of your weapons. An additional +3 will make you look like this while hasted: +35/+35/+30/+25 with sword or club Nothing super, but first thing that came to mind... |
| Caelic08-13-06, 11:46 AM | As a side observation, those weapons seem sort of undergunned for a level 17 character--is there more you can tell us about the treasure level in the campaign? (Are +1 and +2 weapons typical for a fighter of your level?) |
| WalkenDude08-13-06, 03:46 PM | Thanks Zeb, I'll fix that. Will GMW stack with +1 I have on my sword now? Caelic: I have a +1 Wounding Adamantim Greatsword of Wrathful Healing, I think it's a +6 but I don't really remember. I could have made it a +5(Just +5 to Damage/Attack) but we've been coming up to things that have 15/Magic DR and it just wouldn't have been worth it compared to Wrathful keeping me a live and Wounding nocking down Con(wounding weapons seem to have caught on with the whole part now.) Yeah and the treasure level is very low. I came in at level 15 so I got the amout listed in the DMG. We're getting about 25,000 GP per level each. Which seem weak to me, I don't think I'll ever be able to upgrade my swords wounding ability at this rate. |
| Pinky's brain08-13-06, 04:37 PM | Can you retreain some of those class levels? (PHB2) Having to take useless barbarian levels just so you can level fighter without incurring multiclassing XP penalties is just not worth it. Something like barbarian 2/fighter 2/warshaper 4 would have been a better option, even if you do have to give up another point of BAB. Are you using the unerratad weretouch master with the bear form? The tiger form is so much better ... pounce is uber. GMW overlaps, but that isn't really the point ... the point is that a level 17 caster gives you +4 instead of the +1 you have now. No deflection and no enhancement bonus to NA at level 17? Ick. |
| Kresalak08-13-06, 04:48 PM | Thanks Zeb, I'll fix that. Will GMW stack with +1 I have on my sword now? No, but it will overlap; if you have a GMW cast at CL 16, your weapon will become +4. |
| WalkenDude08-13-06, 04:53 PM | I don't use any natural attacks so I don't see how Warshaper would help me. I'm using the unerrated Tiger form. We just found a ring of protect +3 that I might take. NA amulate takes up the same slot as my Amulet of health and I'm not giving that up. I'd rather have high HP then AC. The Pally in our party has 40 AC and he gets hit all the time. |
| Lord Zeb08-13-06, 05:04 PM | Thanks Zeb, I'll fix that. Will GMW stack with +1 I have on my sword now? As the others said, it will overlap - so if you have a GMW cast at CL 16, your weapon will become +4. Embarrasing secret, my group didn't read GMW too well and from level 12 on had +5 swords as our +2 swords + 3 GMW = +5 we thought. :embarrass |
| Pinky's brain08-13-06, 05:04 PM | +4 to str/con which stacks, extra 5 feet reach, immunity to crits and fast healing 2. Why aren't you using your bite attack? |
| aelryinth08-13-06, 08:02 PM | I find it strange that in a campaign so heavy with Undead that you are finding Wounding so useful. Well, perhaps you haven't done the last couple yet...what good is Wounding on things with no Con? Add the Nat AC bonus to your amulet if you have to. You could be wearing Bracers of Health instead (transfer the +con to your wrists). Either ask one of the spellcasters for a Greater Magic Weapon or suck it up and get one with a higher attack bonus. Ghost Touch Undead Slaying Evil Outsider Slaying will come in VERY handy in the last couple of adventures. The Paladin might be getting hit all the time...but he's getting hit less then you. I don't know what's smacking you around so much that a very good 40 AC is worth nothing, but with a 27 at your level, Power Attack should be taking you apart. I imagine only the Wrathful Healing keeps you alive in most fights...and the Wounding, again, is wasted against undead. Get Leadership and a Bardic cohort. Presto, +3 Morale bonus to hit and damage. I think there's a Helm out there which gives INsight bonuses to hit and damage, but you'd have to assume you can find or make one. You really need to get Negative Energy Protection or the later adventures are going to tear you apart. That, and better saves. Some of those later Will saves are just daunting. Probably acid protection, too... ===Aelryinth |
