| Jarlaxle_The_Rogue06-04-05, 05:42 PM | Okay, so I've convinced my DM to give me a LG Barb (Whirling Frenzy Variant) (he's honed his body through iron discipline and can channel bursts of adrenaline). Anyway, point in case, here's the idea: He's all about the flashy wins (maybe creating a tactical feat to help him with this) Two Weapon Fighting, Shortswords (adapted Eberron feat allows shortswords as flurry weapons), Very good defense, likely focusing on wisdom (my DM is pretty lenient I can prolly get him to give me intuitive strike with short swords. Anyway, help me optimize my feat selection and the order I'm taking levels in. I think I'll take a couple lvls in Barb then go Monk until flurry maxes out, maybe go back to barb or take a couple lvls of fighter. So heres the feats I've bean looking at, not sure what to go with for monk bonus feats: Two-Weapon Fighting, Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, Two Weapon Defense, Improved Two Weapon Defense, Intuitive Strike (or Weapon Finnesse if that fails), Dodge, Extended Rage, Extra Rage. As you can see, I've got a few too many feats. I'll prolly go Human unless I get some other crazy idea. |
| Jarlaxle_The_Rogue06-06-05, 04:30 PM | Anything? Okay I've found something that'll help with the number of feats: Butterfly Sword from the Arms and Equiptment Guide is basically a shortsword you can flurry with. any idea on the order of feats? |

| celloshane06-06-05, 07:27 PM | Personally, I think you're missing out on a world of opportunity by not looking at Serpent's Strike. The shortsword may be more classically flashy, but the longspear would free up feats, give you a better threatened area (5' &/or 10'), and gets you more Barbarian power for your money. I've always felt that the adventurer makes the weapons, not vice versa. Plus, I can't believe often people pass right over Raging Luck. If you can free up enough feats, you might look at warforged to explain your LG Barbarian juxtiposition. The warforged don't exactly take a "normal" view on things, such a background could be easily explained. Should you choose to run the "tried and true" Shou Disciple, you'll find it in Forgotten Realms Unnaproachable East, but bear in mind the requirements include two more feats that you haven't planned on. If you want my opinion though, take the road less travelled. |
