| DaddyDik11-17-05, 02:00 AM | Im trying to create a massiva damage dealing barbairan. Do high damage builds generally hit less often due to specific feats and other choices? Im thinking either human(extra feat) or half-ogre (STR). For weapon im trying to go with a 2HandedSword for the better crit. Im trying to stay away from frenzied berzerker as i kinda like my D&D group and dont want to be kicked out. ANy suggestions with say 10 levels to put into it? thank guys. |

I like Champion of Gwynharwyf (Book of Exalted Deeds)- advances almost Rage and DR, and gives lots of other cool stuff, like Immunity to Charms and Compulsions. High STR builds do OK with hitting, the high STR tends to fix any feat related issues. :) |

What you should do is go maybe 10-15 feet infront of the rest, and try to boost your WILL saves. A cloak of resistance is a must, protection from evil and major resistance too. The DC to avoid entering a frenzy is 10 + damage taken, so incase of traps or something where the real danger lies, it wont be very hard to overcome. Then to end a frenzy, just use Calm Emotions or Hold Person incase the DC 20 is too hard. Also remember that the frenzy only lasts number of Frenzied Berserker levels you have + CON modifier. So its not forever. And once every round you get a free WILL save to end it. The benefits are huge. An extra attack per round at your highest modifier is equal to a haste spell, but you get +6 to STR. If you also rage, you will be very hard-hitting and can take some points to power attack. My Barbarian 3/Fighter 4/Frenzied Berserker 1 managed to do 108 in damage in one round the other day without any spells on him at all, all by him self. With a pretty ordinary +2 Greataxe. Thats pretty bad-ass not using any dodgy loopholes in the rules or some strange buffs that takes a few rounds to do and involves several other characters. Go for it, its worth it. Specially if you look forward to what you get later as a Frenzied Berserker. But dont overlook Champion of Gwynharwyf which is a great pick too as PhoenixInferno said. A combination would perhaps be the best. |

The Frenzied Berserker can't charge what he can't see, and he can't make Listen checks either. It's even persistable, so it might not be a bad idea to have the FB be the only visible party member while you have the Cleric and Wizard buff and heal him as he unleashes the beast on the enemies. EDIT: I seriously broke something here... A Daggerspell Mage, an Incantatrix, a Cleric with the Trickery domain, and a Frenzied Berserker is now the best party ever... The Incantatrix can use Cooperative Metamagic to create Persistent Invisibility on the Cleric and Persistent Greater Invisibility on the Daggerspell Mage. He can also give himself Persistent Greater Invisibility through Metamagic Effect. Now the Frenzied Berserker can Frenzy without worry of attacking his teammates for 24 hours, in addition to the usual benefits of Invisibility. The Cleric can't attack, but oh well! He can still provide some *serious* buffing power and keep that ring of spell storing full on the FB's finger with personal-range spells. Then there's Heal... |

If you flunk it you are still in a bit of a... shall we say... situation... Unless you use my idea and keep a Persistent Invisibility Circle on all day and just don't attack. |
