barbarian builds [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-05-04, 04:47 PM how does:

barb1/fighter2/paladin4

look for a setup to barb prestige classes?

you can throw 10 lvls of Frenzied berserker or 1 lvl of bear warrior-3 warshaper-9bear warrior or 10 runescarred B.

it gets you your +7bab, rage, fast, 2 feats, divine grace, lay on hands, smite, turn undead - which just looks to be so much more than barbarian7 brings to the table.

your opinions?

08-05-04, 05:02 PM Looks pretty bad, actually. If you become lawful, you lose the ability to rage, and if you become non-lawful, you lose your Paladin abilities.

Now if you were a Paladin of Freedom (from Unearthed Arcana) that would be a different story.

How about this (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=287738) ? You don't need the feral part, and a human withe Jotenbrud feat can somewhat replace the half-ogre in effectiveness. This is my favorite barbarian/fighter build.

08-05-04, 08:50 PM oops was not aware that rage got lost if you were lawful - well since my GM allows UA, how is this build if you go paladin of freedom?

08-05-04, 08:58 PM Paladin of Freedom is a chaotic good version of the Paladin; not much changes, just some spells, your aura, what you detect, and your Code of Conduct.

If you can get that, your rating goes up, but needing a good Cha takes a dump stat away from you. You be better off with Rogue, Ranger, or more Barbarian levels. Rogue for light armor synergy, skills, Evasion, and sneak attack (overall, more useful than Divine Might). Ranger for armor synergy, skills (notably Survival), Track (to put that Survival to good use), and a favored enemy. Barbarian for the HD and more raging.

If you wanted to make a holy warrior who will rip off your arms at the drop of a hat, look at the 3.5 Build FAQ stickied up top and look under the Paladin section; Snow Savant put together a Paladin-based (Singh) Rager.

Still, have to give you style points, so... :cookie:

08-05-04, 09:12 PM Hehe. I'm actually playing a character right now who is a Ftr 4/Barb 1/Pal 3 (paladin of freedom). I'll be finishing up the next 12 levels with Berserk 1/Anointed Knight 1/Frenzied Berserker 10. I get some extra mileage from the charisma with Divine Grace, Leadership (for a buffing and crafting caster to make me custom items and stuff), and the dip into AK for DR 3/-. It works out pretty nicely. :)
