Hi guys

I'm currentely playing a campaign in a forgotten realms setting where by poor bard just died.
The other players are all magic wielders, so I decided to go for a meele class (something I hardly ever do, since I tend to miss the tricks casters have), the other players are: Master of many forms, Arcane Trixter, radiant servitor of Pelor and a divine oracle.

The stats I rolled: Str 18 - Con 18 - Dex 14 - int 10 - wis 12 - cha 10.

I will be making an eight level character, and I've been thinking of going:

Ranger3/Barbarian2/HorizonWalker1/DeepWarden2

This will net thoose nifty imune to Fatigue (HW) and con on ac oposed to dex.

The race will be dwarf for the con and acces to battlerager.

I have 3 feats to pick and I'm having issues picking the 3 one.
So far I'm thinking of going power attack and Cleave and then go battlerager from level 9-14.

Here's my problem, and where I could really use your help.

1 -
I tend to tire of meele classes after a while, since all they seem to do in combat is, roll to hit and roll damage. So does anyone have any idea on how I can bring a little extra flavour to him, so I wont be fed up with him after 5 sessions?

2 -
Is the build I posted viable or is battlerager not worth it?

3 -
If the build is indeed viable I still have that 3 feat to pick - I've been looking at "extra rage" but if I have to meet some steep reqs after Battle Rager should I go for something else?`

4 -
Last but not least, I have 19000 to spend on equipment and I'm not sure whether to for for a big @ss weapon or defense?

Now for the restrictions.
I can only choose races from players handbook, so nothing fancy.
We are using all the complete books, Races of XXX and most books from forgotten realms (basically all books from 3.5 but no UA)

-------------------

I hope I listed everything needed, so this wont look like another "MAKE ME A 1337 BUILD" thread, and I appologize for spelling errors, enlglish is not my first language :)

2) Battlerager is worth it, and your build is reasonably sound, but, if you 'tire of melee classes', I'd seriously recommend you look to Runescarred Berserker, instead, since it's a Rage class that casts a small number of Spells.

4) Ranger & Barbarian both need Light Armor to do most of their best schticks, and Ranger suffers an HP loss (admittedly, this is made up for by Barb and Deepwarden, + your CON). I'd go Urgosh + Defense.

Excellent, thank you for the quick reply.

I think Urgosh + shield will be nice :)

one question though.

Where do I find the Runescarred Berserker

IMHO i think it is a mistake to use a shield with Urgosh.

The greatest thing about the Dwarven Urgosh is how versatility it is.

It is a
1 handed Spear
2 handed spear
1 handed ax
2 handed ax
double weapon: ax primary spear second
double weapon: spear primary ax second
it does
slashing(ax) piercing(spear) and bludgeon (the haft) damage
and
you can set it for a charge

You loose most of that versatility with a shield. Not to mention you benefit more from your power attack while using 2 hands.
Sure you can drop your shield, but do you want that to be your tactic? Dropping it all the time? how about once you get a magic one? you gonna wanna drop it at all?
If your stuck on shield, why not go Dwarven Waraxe/shield.

At ECL8, you could play a wildshaping druid with Natural Spell.
