I'm playing a barbarian for the first time in my many years of playing the game, and find myself woefully unprepared for a melee build after having played spellcasters exclusivly for the last couple of years.

My barbarian is a dwarf, and he just turned 2nd level. Classic dwarven barbarian killing machine. Great axe, bad attitude, the works.

So some questions...

Would it be worth it to dip into fighter at 3rd level to get the feats and the ability to wear heavy armor? Does wearing heavy armor interfere with raging at all?

Would it then be worth it to go into the Dwarven Battle Rager Prc at 5th level? I've looked over some of the more barborous prestige classes, and none of them really appeal to me except the Battle Rager, although I'd be happy to hear any alternate suggestions.

And then what to do about level 4? Back to barbarian, or stay with fighter for the level?

And beyond all that, does the barbarian even NEED to multiclass or take a Prc? Most of the threads I've read here seem to like barbarian/20 just fine. But to me, it just seems a little, I dunno, boring. And i sure would like to be able to wear decent armor!

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Heavy armour doesn't affect rage at all. It'll affect your fast movement though.

And now for the usual questions:

What books are allowed?

What are your stats, current feats, etc?

What, if anything, can be changed about the character and what is set in stone?

Whats the rest of the party?

Generally speaking, good feats include Combat Brute and Shock Trooper (Complete Warrior), Leap Attack (Complete Adventurer) and Steadfast Determination (PHB2). More feats is normally very useful, so Fighter 2 is a popular dip.

I'm not familiar with Battle Rager tho, where's it from?

Thanks for the info. Good stuff.

Sorry I didn't include the asked for info in my first post. Probably should have.

Str 18
Dex 15
Con 16
Int 12
Wis 12
Cha 9

Feat: Power Attack

Most WOC stuff is allowed, although I doubt Mini handbook or unearthed arcana is.

I just leveled him to 2nd, so I could probably level him into something else if need be, but I figured barb 2 was pretty good. 3rd level seemed like a good level to dip into fighter.

Rest of the party: Halfling rogue, dwarf wizard, human cleric.

Battle Rager is out of Races of Faerun.

Thanks again! I'm going to go look up those suggested feats right now!
