| IThoughtISawA...01-24-05, 12:19 AM | Shifter (ECS) Barbarian 2/Fighter 2/ Warshaper 4/ Frostrager 5/ Weretouched Master 5/ Frenzied Berserker 2 1) Barb1: frozen berserker, power attack (yes, you need to take a flaw), start with Razorclaw trait 2) Barb 2 3) Fighter 1: extra rage, Shifter Ferocity 4) Fighter 2, Improved Unarmed Strike 5) Warshaper 1 6) Warshaper 2, cleave 7) Warshaper 3 8) Warshaper 4 9) Frostrager 1, shifter multiattack 10) Frostrager 2 11) Frostrager 3 12) Frostrager 4, destructive rage 13) Frostrager 5 14) Weretouched Master 1 15) Weretouched Master 2, extra shifter feat (beasthide), intimidating rage 16) Weretouched Master 3 17) Weretouched Master 4, beasthide elite 18) Weretouched Master 5, healing factor 19) Frenzied berserker 1 20) Frenzied Berserker 2 Assuming a starting strength of 16, when completely “powered up” the character would have a strength of +4 (rage), +4 (warshaper) +4 (bear shifting + Razorclaw shifting) + 16 (Bear “alternate form”) + 4 (level increases to strength) +6 (frenzy) for a total of 54 strength before adding magic. Assuming a starting con of 14, our shifter here has a con of +4 (rage), +4 (warshaper), +2 (beasthide shifting) + 8 (Bear “alternate form”) for a total of 32 Con, before adding magic, for a nice +220 HP, averaging out around 300 hp, from only a 14 Con start. Now, this is fairly on par, maybe a little above, the usual Frenzied Berserker/Bear Warrior builds, but here is where it gets interesting: We get a +4 to our AC from Beasthide Elite, and a +6 from greater Frostrage, netting a nice +10 on top of our mithral/blue ice full plate (since we don’t have to worry about the cold, why bother), which helps offset the Frenzy penalty. Thanks to Frostrager and Frenzy, we gain two extra attacks on our full attack for a total of BAB +19, Strength + 22, One Two Punch –2, +39/+39/+39/+37, again before adding any sort of magic. The damage for each hit is only 2d6 (improved Frostrage “claws” upgraded by weretouched master) +22 (strength) +5 (weretouched master) +1d6 ice, but if two hit, that’s another 3d8 +33, for (assuming 2 hits only) 4d6 + 3d8 +87 +2d6 (ice), an average of 132 per round. Plus, our Frenzy damage to ourself is negated by our Warshaper healing, we’re immune to criticals and stunning, we’re forcing two will saves (Intimidating Rage, frightful shifting), we’ve got improved grab for grappling fun, we have a 10’ reach, and our party mage can use cones of cold and energy sub’ed AoE spells to heal us and hurt them at the same time. Any thoughts, improvements? |
| Hawker01-24-05, 05:39 PM | Page 86: Weretouched Master Add the following text to the weretouched master’s Alternate Form ability description: Assuming an alternate animal or hybrid form is a standard action that requires the weretouched master to spend one of his daily uses of the shifting ability. However, assuming an alternate animal or hybrid form is not the same as "shifting" and does not impart any of the benefits of shifting. For example, a razorclaw shifter does not gain any of his razorclaw shifter traits upon assuming an alternate animal or hybrid form. A weretouched master cannot use his shifting ability while in alternate form. He can remain in animal or hybrid form until he decides to revert to his natural form (also a standard action). I like the build but...now you may have to rethink it. But you did see that you can take that Warshaper prestige class at 4th level...not many know that. Think about also reckless rage. Now on the other hand ...the extra attacks and great render does not apply from frostrager. Unarmed attacks are not natural attacks, so claws don't get extra attacks from frostrager or the extra damage from render...there is the feat for razorclaw traits...Great Rend and you will do the extra damage that way... But you did teach me that frenzy combines with rage...that is sweet... |
