Ok so this is my first time playing a barbarian. I just made a pretty basic barbarian that has the bear warrior Prc And reaping mauler prc. im level 5 barbarian, 6 levels bear warrior, 5 levels reaping mauler. now so far i went for the whole unarmed attack thing with a monks belt, and i also have a greataxe just incase. Now im used to playing paladins, and i must say its a good deal different. im used to protection, smiting, turning, and even some spells. not to mention having my charisma mod on saving throws. So i would like to ask for any and all advice you can give on playing a barbarian.

thank you in advance for the help.

Quick, off-the-wall response.........take the Snow Tiger Berserker feat from Unapproachable East. Since you use unarmed and natural attacks most of the time anyhow, why not get the ability to make a full attack at the end of a charge?

Stats? Books allowed?

Barbarians don't have to go without magical protection — there's the Runescarred Berserker in Unapproachable East, and the Champion of Gwynharf in BoED.

Edit : Opps wrong place to post this.

I know it's not what your looking for but Frenzied Berserkers are fun!

Well first off thank you for the response. and seacound if it helps the books we can use are

-we play with 3.5
-Complete warrior, and divine
-Arms and equiptment
-libris mortis
-BoVD
-BoED
-and any of the quintesentials
if that helps at all since those are the books we have (includes all the cores)

and if needed my total stats with ability ups and all that jazz

Str. 22
Dex. 14
Con. 16
Int. 9
Wis.14
Cha. 9
so as you can see ive got a pretty balanced out ability lay out. most of these or somewhat increased by items.

Once again thanks for the replies and please do keep them coming

Hmm.... too bad your Charisma is low. There is actually a barbarian PrC in the BoED that has Cha to saves and Wis based spellcasting. It's called the Champion of Gwyn...something. You might still check it out, since it would allow you to blend in some palladin-like stuff into your barbarian.

The Reaping Mauler isn't thought of too highly on here. I don't remember it well enough to offer much of an opinion myself, though. (And I don't own CW)

Can you use Psionics? This (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6148406&postcount=24) is a character I'd love to play, if so. There are some other builds in the rest of that thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=424573), too.

Well, if you're going for an unarmed barbarian, why not try going for the Frostrager PrC from the Frostburn supplement. While raging you get a +4 nat armor bonus to AC (from Ice sheets forming) and your unarmed attacks do extra ice damage. Also, you get an extra unarmed strike at level two (albeit you have a -2 penalty for all unarmed attacks) and rend as a class ability at lvl 5, so it's all good. Hell, the flavor text even mentions the idea of a frostraging bear barb, so you might want to look into it.
