| Malfean11-28-05, 10:29 AM | My grey elf wizard would be incantrix would be archmage died at 5 level :( . I am thinking of playing a barbarian. I decided to become a half ogre barbarian. I know that half ogre is not such a good choice anymore since it costs +2 LA, but my DM doesn't have races of destiny so it's still +1LA for him :D . I have 84 points distributted as i see fit. That's probably 18 18 18 10 10 10. I am intrigued by two options: 20 level barbarian(18,18,18,10,10,10) or 10 level barbarian/10 level runescared berserker(18/14/18/10/14/10). Which of the two is better in your opinion? Please tell which feats are the best (according to the build you propose) and why. This is the part that intrests me the most. If you have a better build to propose go ahead, however i have already decided against frenzied berserker it's just to dangerous for my party... Hulking hurler is an option but i find hard to always look for big things to throw; some times there is just nothing to throw.... Thanks in advance for your replies! |

If you into charging powerful charge (miniatures handbook) can be good. Mayby cleave too? But I don't think it's a good idea to fool your dm with the half-ogre template. Instead of the half-ogre, you can always opt for the half-minotaur (Dragon 313?) or the mineral warrior template (Underdark). grtz, Laak |

Combat brute is indeed very good i like the power attack ability. Makes me reconsider frenzied berserker. Powerful charge isn't that good. Maybe if i was a psycic warrior with expansion... Half minotaur!? There no way my dm will allow this, especially if it is from dragon. |

If you played runescared berserker wich spells would you choose as known? Which feats? Do you propose any good combos? Allas the champion is great but he needs charisma and wisdom and the three physical stats. Considering that i don't need to pay more than normal for 14->15->...->18 i feel that it is better to avoid builds that need more than 4 abilities. |
| Laak11-29-05, 08:30 AM | I figured that half-minotaur would be a no-no. But the mineral warrior template is worth a look. The damage reduction 8/adamantine alone is worth your money. I realised that leap attack (Complete warrior) is also good. And mayby the wolf berzerker variant from Unearth arcana. Your right about powerful charge. Spending a feat on is to much. If you like it, you can always spend 5000 gp on boots of charging (Miniatures handbook) which nets you the same. gtz, Laak |

I wouldn't say you NEED Wisdom or Charisma. Just because you HAVE spells, doesn't mean you need to cast them, and once you get to level 7, Divine Grace to boost your Will save just isn't as neccessary anymore. |
| AviLazar11-29-05, 10:21 AM | It may be unpopular (really shouldn't be) but why don't you down your Dex to say 14, and up your wisdom to 14? You will suffer from a low will save so you could use the +2....especially if you decide to go FB...it's nice to get out of frenzy on demand. |

I also need charimsa for smite evil... Hmm so you are saying that i should go 18/14/18/14 wis/10/10 and leave charisma alone? Or should i dump wisdom? |

I will do that but only if i become runescared berserker....the funny thing is that as wisdom 10 barbarian i will have a higher will save through indominable will and mighty rage. |
| AviLazar11-29-05, 04:34 PM | I also need charimsa for smite evil... Hmm so you are saying that i should go 18/14/18/14 wis/10/10 and leave charisma alone? Or should i dump wisdom? Wisdom is an invaluable stat to have, especially for fighter types. However, if you are going to go smite then yea dump it for smite. Honestly, I think smite is subpar for this build. You only get a few times and your charisma will never be that high. You will also make your build suffer from MAD. Hmm you are getting divine grace, so charisma will be important. Be careful of having too many important stat requirements. |
| PhoenixInferno11-29-05, 04:51 PM | I'd give up CHA for WIS as well. The bonus to Will save is far more important, particularly after you get Immunity to Charms and Compulsions. |
| AviLazar11-29-05, 05:00 PM | I would normally agree will is more important then cha...but if he can get divine grace then cha will do the same thing and more. Though the worst thing to happen to a party is to find their FB is dominated. |
