bard archer [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-30-05, 07:17 AM What's a good way to make a bard archer, both low-, mid- as high-level? For feats I'd go PBS, Precise Shot, Rapid Shot, etc, .. But what spells or even feats could I take to help me in this?

10-30-05, 11:01 AM i thought about this before. start as a ranger, take PBS at lvl 1, get rapid shot at 2, then at 3 start taking bard levels and precise shot. youll be able to track, and animal empathy will be nice with your high charisma, also you can use divine spell scrolls and wands. youll have to do some finagling to get your skills the way you want. also by level 8 if your an elf you could take Arcane Archer PRC.

10-30-05, 10:05 PM There's an article on the wotc website giving a sample bard-archer build. Not terribly optimised, but could give some tips/hints. Its 3.0, but you should have little trouble adapting it to your game.

10-30-05, 10:38 PM Archery feats are an easy choice, the first three are pretty obvious, and mentioned above.

The fourth one, and a very good one for bards, is Craft Arms and Armor. With it, and Summon Monster I spell, you'll be able to make excellent weapons for yourself, and the complete range of bane arrows for whatever you think you'll be facing.

Straight bard gets the most bang from this one, I'd be a human bard and skip the ranger levels if you want to focus on crafting. You can take craft at 6th level then.

10-30-05, 10:59 PM I say nix precise shot, it's a +1 enhancment bonus on a bow. Get Words of Creation ASAP (level 6 pure bard) and use it liberally, it will serve you well. After that theres little else to do.
