| MalachiGrendier12-25-06, 12:30 PM | Kether Sepheroth CG Race: Glimmering Forestlord Elf: Like forestlord elf from Dragon Magic, but replace treewalk and class skill hide with touch of luck and class heal from glitterskin halfling, and replace forestlord pact: green dragons with forestlord pact: good dragons. Flaws: Vulnerable, Pride of Arms: Glimmerfang (See Below) (When not using his family weapon he takes a -4 to attack rolls.) Traits: Reckless, Polite Character concept: Elf noble (From Quintessential Elf.) Template: Greater Gold Dragon Blooded (Unearthed Arcana) Class option: Bardic Knack (Players Handbook 2) Glimmerfang: This weapon appears to be a masterwork long sword, but when used to attack, it ‘unfolds’ numerous times to act more like a bladed whip. (Functions exactly like a masterworks spiked chain. Exotic weapon proficiency: spiked chain needed to wield it.) Stats: (Organic method) (At level 1): STR 18 DEX 16 CON 12 INT 14 WIS 8 CHA 16 History: Born to a noble family of elf’s long descended from the Guardian of the forest (the Gold Dragon Glinderall), Kether Sepheroth was groomed from an early age to take the throne and rule his people. Tragedy struck when an ancient Red Dragon with a centuries old grudge against Glinderall brought an army to Kether's forest and laid waste to everything in their path. Kether managed to escape the destruction by being secreted away by his childhood friend the nymph Falishia. She kept him safe in the Fairy realm for a time before he left to gather the strength he would need to return and reclaim his lands. Levels/Feats: (I’m considering) 1Bard: Elven dilettante (Races of the Wild), Exotic weapon use: spiked chain, Nymph’s Kiss (Book of exalted deeds) 2Bard 3Bloodline: Item familiar: Glimmerfang (Unearthed Arcana) 4Bard 5Bard 6Bloodline: Ancestral relic: Glimmerfang (Book of exalted deeds) 7Bard 8Bard 9Bard: Leadership 10Bard 11Bard 12Bloodline: Obtain familiar (Complete Arcana) 13Fighter: Weapon focus: Spiked Chain 14Sublime Chord (Complete Arcane) 15Sublime Chord: Wanderer’s diplomacy 16Spell Sword (Complete Warrior) 17Eldrich Knight: (Not sure yet for bonus feat) 18Eldrich Knight (Not sure on this feat yet either) 19Eldrich Knight 20Eldrich knight 7’Th level spells, Base attack bonus: 13/8/3 Base Saves: 11/7/12, lots of neatness. Idea: backup/midrange fighter, backup healer/spell caster, party’s diplomat, backup skill monkey (character is themed, but hopefully strong enough to pose as a good triple threat.) Goals: Run a business-acting troupe named “The Wondering Wyverns”, (see DMG 2 for optional rules). Raise enough money to build a stronghold/lair (Cave in a mountain, but inside looks like a palace). Use said stronghold to raise an army in order to reclaim his forest. Current Level: 2 Idea for Cohort: Wood Elf Lycanthrope (were-cat: Who doesn’t love catgirls?) Cleric (uses longbow) Domains: Bonding (Book of Erotic Fantasy), Trickery. As you can probably tell, just about any sourcebook is usable in this campaign. Personality: Kether tends to be somewhat vain and greedy (He is an Elf Noble with Dragon blood after all), but he more than makes up for it through his friendly and charismatic personality. Because there is a Red Dragon with a grudge against his ancestor and his line in the lands, Kether is nearly always in disguise. (One never knows who might be a dark agent of the Red’s growing influence.) He wears a theater mask at all times, and can be found performing in a local playhouse when not adventuring. Let me know what you think... (Any advice on appreciated.) |
| DaveTheMagicWeasel12-25-06, 12:47 PM | Move the Fighter level to earlier, dropping a Bard level *you only need 7 to qualify for Sublime Chord). Then you can enter Sublime Chord a level earlier, for better casting. Also, get rid of Eldritch Knight and instead take all 5 levels of Abjurant Champion. |
| MalachiGrendier12-25-06, 12:51 PM | Thanks! Not to sound stupid, but where can I find the Abjurant Champion? |
| Yorath_theWolf12-25-06, 01:00 PM | it's in Complete Mage |
| MalachiGrendier12-25-06, 01:02 PM | Thank you |
| Sharp_Claw12-26-06, 12:19 AM | this may be just wrong (I'm AFB), but might you need obtain familiar before item familiar? or are the two redundant? actually...I understand your committment to flavor (kudos on going whole-hog with the bloodline levels), but what will a fmiliar do for you, really? I'm sure there's something better you can do. also, (if your DM allows it), you might consider swapping your STR and CHA for the spellcasting/diplomacy-type skill boost. ...bonding domain? please tell me that's actually useful in some way...lol |
| MalachiGrendier12-26-06, 01:10 PM | I should probably switch out obtain familiar for combat casting (I got the compete mage and abjurent champion is looking pretty sweet.) My idea was to have a raven that could deliver info or act as a spy. It's too late for me to switch out ability scores :( (My Str. was origanaly 8 and my wis an 18 and my cha. a 16, since you can only switch 2 scores in organic meathod I chose Str and Wis.) It was actual the Joining domain not bonding (easy mistake to make, right?), and it grants Permanency as a 7'th level Domain spell (I plan to get permanently enlarged, it suits my dragon theme, and allows me to make good use of my weapon.) It also has some good spells unique to the book that enhance my cohorts usefulness (The first spell on the list: 'Find a soul mate' offers a good explanation as to how we meet in game and provides more flavor.) |
| MalachiGrendier12-26-06, 01:14 PM | Oh right, Item familiars only prereq is level 3, and it differs from a regular familiar in many ways. It basicly allows you to create an ego weapon (or any item realy), grant it powers (even a purpose), and use it to invest a portion of your own power (enhancing XP awards by 10%, skill slots, etc...) The idea is to create a legacy for my future kin, a family blade relic. |
| MalachiGrendier12-26-06, 01:47 PM | OK Here's how it looks right now: 1Bard: Elven dilettante (Races of the Wild), Exotic weapon use: spiked chain, Nymph’s Kiss (Book of exalted deeds) 2Bard 3Bloodline: Item familiar: Glimmerfang (Unearthed Arcana) 4Fighter: Weapon Focus: Spiked Chain(Glimmerfang)? 5Bard 6Bloodline: Ancestral relic: Glimmerfang (Book of exalted deeds) 7Bard 8Bard 9Bard: Leadership 10Bard 11Bard 12Bloodline: Combat Casting 13Sublime Chord (Complete Arcane) 14Sublime Chord 15Spell Sword (Complete Warrior): Wanderer’s diplomacy 16Abjurant Champion 17Abjurant Champion 18Abjurant Champion: Obtain Familiar? 19Abjurant Champion 20Abjurant Champion Thanks for the advise and comments, if theres anything els you can think of let me know. |
| Kuroi Kenshi12-26-06, 02:15 PM | To closely match what you had initially, I'd go with something like Bard8/Bloodline1/Fighter1/Soldier of Light2/Sublime Chord2/Abjurant Champion5/Spellsword1 I added soldier of light because the guy leans on the good side enough to dabble in exalted stuff, so it fits in while giving you 2 sources of CHA-synergy - saves and damage (if you take the feat Divine Might). The drawback is you'd have to be neutral good, not chaotic good. So if you don't want to go for that, you could instead opt for something like Bard4/Fighter2/Bloodline1/Abjurant Champion3/Sublime Chord2/Abjurant Champion+2/Sacred Exorcist6 Another alternative is Bard7 or 8/Fighter1 or 2/Bloodline1/Sublime Chord2/Abjurant Champion5/Sacred Exorcist or Ruathar3 Either way, with those builds your BAB and spell power will be significantly higher, and you get some CHA synergy, though your skills and bardic abilities will suffer somewhat for it. A minor nitpick, which you can hopefully get past your DM (or already have): Exotic Weapon Proficiency requires +1 BAB to take, so you'd have to put off getting it till 3rd...taking fighter at level 1 to pick up the feat at level 1 wouldn't be worth it in my opinion. Also a feat to consider for your build might be Stand Still from the expanded psionics handbook. It's a general feat, so it doesn't require any psionic abilities, and it can help a ton for battlefield control and keeping things away from you (and any squishier targets). |
| MalachiGrendier12-26-06, 02:24 PM | All good advice (Good catch on the Excotic weapon prof. I forgot about that one. I don't think my D.M. will mind becouse he enjoys good flavor, and it makes sence that I'd start off knowing how to wield my family blade.) The only thing is the lack of the other two bloodline levels wich will hurt in the long run (20% hit to XP, and a stop on gaining bloodline powers if I don't take the levels at 3, 6, and 12.) I'll have to look up the classes you mentioned and do some more thinking. (sigh), I can't believe I forgott about that darn +1 to bab for exotic weopon use. Just to not be too cheesy about it, I might put wondering diplomat in my first level feats, and take it at 4'th with fighter. I don't think my DM or fellow players will complain too much if I act as though I had it in the meantime. (I'll have to check) |
| MalachiGrendier12-26-06, 02:27 PM | Oh, if you know where I could find Soljer of light and Sacred exorcist please let me know (It would save a lot of time pouring through a mountain of books) |
| MalachiGrendier12-26-06, 03:38 PM | Oh, I know! Since I'm already level 2, I can just say I took Alertness at 1'st level, then when my bloodline bonus feat Alertness came for level 2 I just swapped it out for Exotic weapon proficiency! (according to the rules if you already have a feat that a bloodline would give you when you get said feat from the bloodline you may swap it out for another.) |
| Yorath_theWolf12-26-06, 06:50 PM | Oh, if you know where I could find Soljer of light and Sacred exorcist please let me know (It would save a lot of time pouring through a mountain of books) no idea where 'Soljer of light" is but "Sacred Exorcist" is in Complete Divine and possibly Defenders of the Faith. |
| MalachiGrendier12-26-06, 06:54 PM | Thanks |
| Sharp_Claw12-26-06, 10:47 PM | I too am AFB, but I'm gonna assume (especially based on context) that Soldier of Light can be found in BoED |
| Yorath_theWolf12-26-06, 11:14 PM | I too am AFB, but I'm gonna assume (especially based on context) that Soldier of Light can be found in BoED *sigh* feel like a right idiot now, didn't even make the connection to Soldier of Light there. and as to where it is, no I dn'na think it's in BoED, though I could be wrong, I swore it was in Deities and Demigods. |
| Kuroi Kenshi12-26-06, 11:17 PM | Yeah, Soldier of Light is from Deities and Demigods. |
| MalachiGrendier12-27-06, 09:49 AM | Found it thanks. Sorry about the poor spelling |
| MalachiGrendier12-27-06, 10:03 AM | After researching this charictor, I think I've stumbled upon a great build for my cohort: Wild Elf Lychanthrope were-cat: Druid5,Bard1,Green whisperer5, Sublime Chord1, Arcane hierophantx Or I might use it for my next charictor) |
