| wreintein04-04-05, 04:24 PM | Hi everyone, In my campaign a new player will be joining in soon. He has some experience with D&D but not enough to really make his own character from scratch. (Mostly because of the huge amount of choice in prestige classes and things). So as usual I'm to help him out. His idea was to play a bard and the party's idea is that it would be nice if he helps them out on the part they are now very weak: arcane magic. The party consists of a cleric/comtemplative, rogue/ninja, fighter/weapon master, psychic warrior and an ranger-archer build. The time this character joins the'll be 13th level and thus this character will be that as well. The party no problem what so ever with fighter type opponents, but as soon as they face casters with things like fly and invisibilty they are usually in trouble. Also magically locked doors are a horror for them. I was thinking of making this bard with as prestige classes virtuoso and some levels of sublime chord (I like the L2 ability). But maybe you've got some other suggestion. Also I'd like some tips on further optimizing this build. Maybe some suggestions for feats or feat combinations, really good bard spells and good magic items. The one I'm really searching for is one that gives a +10 or so on bardic knowledge, as this ability won't advance with virtuoso. The campaign is basically 3.0 but I usually allow 3.5 PrC's which don't exisits in 3.0. Further anything from WotC is allowed and other material if I don't find it to unbalancing. Well that's it. Long story, but I hope you guys have some suggestions. |

Still bard with some crunchy stuff: Bard 10/Sublime Chord 10 That does have some roleplay requirements.. like the astrologer stuff. Change them if you want, it appears you are the DM - so your call. That also likely the "standard non-munchkin/cheese build". |
