Eisgowen 03-09-04, 11:48 PM	Want advice on goign either 2-hander or 2-weapons. Im currently making a 5th lvl bard. I plan on utilizing Snow Savants Fighter bard. ie divine might + arcane strike + improvisation + words of creation. bard16/Soldier of Light2/xx2 perhaps 1/2 fey for hte last 2 we are using UA rules to buy off ecl. str-16 dex-18 reason im thinking of going 2 hander is that at higher lvls my + to hit will be insane with all these bonus's and i would like to be able to utilize power attack. Also perhaps i should go TWF but use a non light in my main hand?
Eisgowen 03-10-04, 12:06 AM	also i should mention we are using most all the UA varients. Including Flaws. Which means i pretty much get 2 free feats at 1st lvl. Also i prefer human(magic blooded) or maybe 1/2 fey. Just remembered there is a prestige Bard in UA. Wondering what everyone thinks of (sorcerer/"battle sorcerer" or War wizard from mini) till 4-5th lvl and then prestige Bard 12 and soldier of light 2 for those of you that dont know battle sorcer gets rogue BaB casting in light armor and one less spell per lvl.
JosephKell 03-10-04, 02:06 AM	If Bard is as a Core Class: Bard 20 If using the Prestige Bard: Rogue 3/Sorcerer 2/Prestige Bard 15 If you MUST go either Two-Handed Fighting or Two-Weapon Fighting, go Two-Weapon. But I recommend just sticking to the Longsword and Inspire Courage...
CaoSlayer 03-10-04, 07:59 AM	ummm, just these numbers: I.C. +4 I.G.+2 *2 with words of creation +12 to hit +8 to damage ... and with power attack and big weapon: up to +32 to damage in each attack, without backdraws.
Dirty Dan the Laundry Man 03-10-04, 12:12 PM	Snow's most recent Battle Bard is a Bard-16 / Soldier of Light-1 / Spellsword-3. Feats ---> Word of Creation, all the TWF feats, Arcane Strike, Divine Shield, Divine Might, & Imp. Shield Bash. Weapons --> Bladed Battle Gauntlet (medium-size and useable with Power Attack) and a Spiked Shield. The BBG is in the Underdark book i think. You can also cast spells with it since it does not impair your somatic gestures. I'm playing it right now and it makes our party fighter look like chump change! I've got a sky-high AC as well. The Divine Shield feat helps a lot here. At first I thiought the greatsword would be a better option, but the TWF style gets a lot of damage bonuses in this build. after doing the math, I'm glad i took the TWF route. and I get a lot of style points for a wild and different way of fighting!

Dirty Dan the Laundry Man 03-10-04, 02:24 PM	it's either in the Underdark or Races of Faerun book. Special wording for the weapon is important to read. It can have spikes or blades attached to it to simulate bracers claws (which are in the A&EG and FRCS books) which allow somatic spellcasting because they are gauntlet "blades", which run along the top of your hands, not -in- your hands. Since the weapon is medium sized as listed in its table, you can use it with Power Attack (neccessary -- since you want Divine Might feat). this is better than outright taking the Bracer Claws, because they are tiny weapons (Power Attack wont work with them) and also Bracer Claws cost an Exotic WP feat. Whereas the Bladed Battle Gauntlet is a martial weapon. again, there is a lot of reading the exact words and variable qualifiers in the text section of the weapon. but in the end, the weapon is perfect for a spellcaster type who wants to mix it up in melee.
Eisgowen 03-10-04, 09:32 PM	i liked Snows original build but i would reall like to get Divine Grace into mine. I find it indespensable. i mean i started with a 20 Chr and will have it 6-8 points higher by 10-15th lvl. Thats a HUGE +8-9 bonus to all saves )
