Bard/Fighter/Eldritch Knight advice [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm putting together a bard/fighter/eldritch knight with feats focusing on spells and archery. Right now it looks like this: Bard7/Fighter2/EldritchKnight11.

Does this sound right? Is there a far superior way to build an archer bard that still advances in spells?

12-12-05, 06:06 PM The general rule of thumb is not to advance Bard with Eldritch Knight.

Bard7/EK11/Fighter2 = 18 BAB, saves 12/8/8, sixth level spells, inspire courage +1.

Bard16/Fighter2/ArcaneArcher2 = BAB 16, saves 11/13/10, sixth level spells, Inspire courage +3, Inspire Heroics, Song of Freedom, Inspire Greatness, much better skills, slightly better HP, Enhance Arrow +1, Imbue Arrow.

Which seems better?

If you want a good bard/EK build, I would suggest Paladin 3/Bard 7/Sublime Chord 1/EK 9.

That gives you +17 BAB, light armor casting, 9th level spells, and Cha to saves. Use Devoted Performer to get into bard with levels of paladin.

No, your build is illegal. You can't take epic levels pre-epic. :(

Yes, there is. First, you want more levels of Bard. A 20th level bard can give himself and his allies a +4 bonus to attack and damage, which is generally better than the points of BAB you give up. With the right feats, you can get that bonus to about +10.

If you aren't that hot on the idea of loosing that much BAB, at least take 15 levels of Bard for Inspire Heroics.

Given the choice, I'd go with Bard 15/Warchanter 5. You get the dual songs, all the best bardic music + some, and a BAB of 16.

Another possibility would be Bard 8/Fighter 2/Spellsword 3/Eldritch Knight 7. You loose out on music, but get a good number of fighter feats, nice saves, and a solid BAB. This is more of a melee build, however.

Damn,' evenyone hopped on this one. I must say that Rilem is spot-on with his Arcane Archer. Although there aren't many good bard spells for it...

And being a Half-Elf gives the option for bardic substitution levels which rock.

Hah! Um, yes, and that. Suppose I should've noticed.

Regarding your build, I'd go with Sublime Chord2 instead of EK9. Same BAB, and SC2 is pretty nice.
