| SageBahamut10-13-06, 04:24 PM | I currently have a halfling Brd7/Warweaver1, with the feats: 1: Improved Initiative 2: Quick Recon 3: Enlarge Spell I'm basically looking to turn him into the ultimate spellslinging buff-monkey. If this has been done before, a simple link will suffice, otherwise any advice the experts have for me is greatly appreciated. I was thinking of taking a level of Marshal next level and getting that Charisma-to-Charisma-skills aura, just for the sake of pushing my Perform checks higher. (Obviously Skill Focus will be in my future, too.) Maybe a level or three of Dread Commando later on to /really/ pimp out my Initiative (as though having a +10 since level 3 wasn't enough. :) ) |

Bardic Music is the reason bards make good buffers, and their spells take care of other commonly useful buffs. A Sublime Chord War weaver is far superior to a plain Bard one, firstly because you can still get Inspire Courage +4 and secondly because you can take better advantage of your War Weaver buffs (for example: cast Freedom of Movement through your tapestry and then cover the field with an Evard's Black Tentacles spell). Depending on the wording of War Weaver's spellcasting, however, you might still be able to take levels in Sublime Chord and then finish War Weaver after without losing Sublime Chord casting. |

I will definitely try my best to work some levels of this into my long-term plans. The problem is I really need the high-level Warweaver power to ranged-touch my touch spells as quickly as possible. Maybe I'll take a level of Sublime Chord before I get Warweaver 2, and use the +1 Level from Warweaver on Sublime Chord (which has it's own spell progression, and isn't itself a +1 Level class). An odd question... Sublime Chord mentions it grants Bardic Knowledge bonuses. My halfling used the Bardic Knack variant at first level. Would taking levels of Sublime Chord restore the ability he gave up early on? Or would it simply add to his Knack instead? |

Would taking levels of Sublime Chord restore the ability he gave up early on? Or would it simply add to his Knack instead? I'd say the latter. It's up to your DM, though. Wizards doesn't care about covering all the bases when it comes to variant rules. Also, the increase to range on Touch-range spells isn't that important. It can wait until level 16ish if the campaign intends to go that far. Until then, I say go Bard 9/War Weaver 1 before Sublime Chord, and then after two levels of Sublime Chord go War Weaver 4/Full-Casting PrC X 4 (even more Sublime Chord if you want). |
| Skadrian10-14-06, 05:33 AM | why not bard7/ww2/sc2/ww+2/full caster7 the wording of war weaver seems to say that you can switch the class it adds to if you have only 1 casting class before you enter war weaver. It says that when you have more then one casting class when entering war weaver you have to choose one to add all the casting progression to, but when you enter sc later it shouldnt be a problem |
| Todd10-16-06, 10:50 AM | The earliest you can take Sublime Chord is character level 11. Now Bard 7 / War Weaver 3 would be a reasonable entry but not B 7 / WW 2.... Given that you aren't a changeling my suggestion would be, Bard 7 / WW 1 / Bard 8 / Sand Shaper 1 / Sublime Chord 1 / War Weaver 2-4 / Sublime Chord 2 / Prc 4 (more sand shaper levels would work but then so would plenty of other things) Sand Shaper is in Sandstorm and will add roughly 45 new spells to your list of spells known and a lot of them are WW friendly like Bull's Strenth as a 1st level spell.... |
