Bardic Music and Spellcasting: Looking for a PrC [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-28-03, 04:42 PM Aside from the Virtuoso, is there any published PrC out there that gives (full) spellcasting advancement but to either divine or arcane spellcasting levels?

If this is so, then I will have a whup-ass bard for all of you soon.

11-28-03, 05:31 PM Geomancer (MotW) and Hathran (FRCS) are designed for multiclass arcane/divine casters, and can increase either.

Bard9 / Apostle Of Peace1 / Virtuoso10

BAB +11
Spells = 4th Level Bard (10 Levels) & 9th Level Cleric (15 Levels)
Bard Song = 19 Uses + Extra Virtuoso Songs
Divine Might Feat from AoP's Turn Undead Ability
Persistent Divine Power (8th Level Cleric Spell) gives Fighter BAB

Go Bard7-AoP1-Virt9(AoP)-Virt1(Bard)-Bard2

You could also opt for Bard10/AoP1/Virt9 if you value Bard Lore improvement over the last Virtuoso Bard Song.

11-28-03, 07:58 PM snow, is there a way that i can keep you in a drawer near my desk? that way, anytime i need a build, there you are. i mean, holy hell, that is a sweet build. it's simple, effective, and likes to sing.....a lot. i was going to post a build of my own, but i don't even want to now.

11-28-03, 08:27 PM Similarly, if your DM has lost his damn mind (and if he lets you cascade Apostle of Peace levels off of other prestige classes, he has) you could use this build.

Bard 7 / Apostle of Peace 1 / Virtuoso (AoP) 5 / Mystic Theurge 3 / Virtuoso (Bard) 3 / Contemplative 1 (Pick the Hero domain from OA)

Power Attack
Sacred Vow
Vow of Poverty (Nymph's Kiss, Vow of Nonviolence, Vow of Peace * Broken, Intuitive Attack, Touch of Golden Ice, Words of Creation, etc. etc.)
Divine Might
Two-Weapon Fighting
Arcane Preparation
Extend Spell
Persistant Spell

Our stupid little Apostle carries around a quarterstaff and uses wands of extended spikes to buff thing thing up. He then picked up a metamagic rod of quicken and then uses it on Heroism, Greater.

For argument's sake, here's his attack bonus when at full power.
The guy's also a big believer into metamagic rods of extend, greater, so always runs around with shapechange slapped on while aided by Virtuoso Music and a Prayer Bead of Karma.

He then alter-selfs himself back into human form all the time so he can fit into dungeons. For simplicity's sake, we'll assume that he picks titan form all of the time.

(20 BAB + 5 Enhancement + 15 Strength + 4 Morale + 4 Competence + 6 Luck) Attack Bonus: 52 / 52 / 47 / 42 / 37

Due to extremely poor wording in the class, Apostles of Peace can apparently pick up magical equipment despite having the friggin' vow of poverty feat. Whatever.

11-28-03, 08:37 PM Oh, another great Bard-like PrC is the Heartfire fanner from Dragon 314. Sing songs, grant Fighter feats, add metamagic to other's spells. What a team player!

11-28-03, 10:33 PM ya know simply casting divine power isn't really offensive. having a fighter BAB doesn't make you use it.

But Acolytes of the Peace still don't get it on their spell list.

So that means taking a level of divine disciple or contemplative--and the only two domains that give out divine power AFAIK are Hero and War. Hero is OA and War is, well, anathemic to an AoP, so a DM's well within his rights to say that you can't pick up the domain.

Quite simply, the character is a Vanara orphan who was raised by a group of human merchants, who brought him into the western world as a child, where he learned the ways of the bard.

That Hero domain, why that's been gained by "Comtemplating" your homeland and its customs and values(wink, wink, nudge, nudge).
