| MiscDebris03-14-05, 03:41 AM | As always, suggestions are welcome. All builds below are human. Paladin can be variants from UA. All 3.5 sources, Eberron-like action points. The second two builds will be focusing on weather-like effects. Clouds, wind, electric, cold, sonic, etc. One of these builds will be replacing the party face (lasher in the sig). Starting at 12th. Bard 1 / Paladin 1-4 / Bard 2-6 / Seeker of the Song 1-10 Feats: Artist, Extra Music, Devoted Performer, Skill Focus (Perform(Sing)), Versatile Performer, X, X, X Bardic Music per day: 27 = 6 (Bard) + 4 (Paladin) + 10 (Seeker of the Song) + 3 (Artist) + 4 (Extra Music) [NEW] Bard 1 / Paladin (any evil) 1-4 / Bard 2 / Dirgesinger 1-4 / Seeker of the Song 1-10 Feats: Artist, Extra Music, Devoted Performer, Requium, Skill Focus (Perform(Sing)), Versatile Performer, X, X Bardic Music per day: 27 = 2 (Bard) + 4 (Paladin) + 4 (Dirgsinger) + 10 (Seeker of the Song) + 3 (Artist) + 4 (Extra Music) Bard 1-8 / Stormsinger 1-2 / Sublime Chord 1-2 / Stormsinger 3-10 Feats: Artist, Nymph's Kiss, Magical Apptitude, Storm Magic, Extra Music, Versatile Performer, Skill Focus (Perform(Sing)), X Bardic Music per day: 26 = 8 (Bard) + 10 (Stormsinger) + 1 (Sublime Chord) + 3 (Artist) + 4 (Extra Music) Bard 1 / Paladin 1-3 / Bard 2-5 / Stormsinger 1-2 / Sublime Chord 1-2 / Stormsinger 3-10 Feats: Artist, Magical Appitude, Storm Magic, Devoted Performer, Practiced Spellcaster, Skill Focus(Perform(Sing)), Versatile Peformer, Extra Music Bardic Music per day: 26 = 5 (Bard) + 3 (Paladin) 10 (Stormsinger) + 1 (Sublime Chord) + 3 (Artist) + 4 (Extra Music) And now for the question(s). Do I need to worry about running out of bardic musics with any of these builds? That's a major concern of mine. In other words, is it worth it to take Artist and Extra Music for these builds. Do I have to worry about damage output with these builds (beyond spells). Any ways to increase the damage output? I guess there's just two right now. I had more when I started... How about just a general critique and suggestions then. |
| scrollreader03-14-05, 03:45 AM | Don't forget Dirgesinger and Dragonsong Lyrist for some more songs. |
| guarnasco03-14-05, 04:02 AM | mmmmm.......... anyone knows how to gain bardic music as a class feature on a wizard without losing caster levels and spell progression? |
| MiscDebris03-14-05, 04:02 AM | Don't forget Dirgesinger and Dragonsong Lyrist for some more songs. Didn't even see Dirgesinger. I'll make a build for it and put it up above. I looked at Dragonsong Lyrist, but I decided against it because it doesn't add any more bardic music uses per day. We're going Epic, however, so it's a good possibility after 20th. |
| Jason Snyder03-14-05, 02:21 PM | I don't have a definitive answer to your question, because it depends a lot on play style, size of group, normal types of encounters in your campaign and so forth. Let's assume you have 3-4 fights a day and they average 3-4 rounds, then you have 9-16 combat rounds when you might want to expend a music usage. Lets say you do it 60% of the rounds, which is roughly 5 to 10 times a day. Then lets assume that that you aren't going to use too many music charges in non-combat situations (like not using Inspire Competence), say maybe 1 a day. So, you could probably be ok on 6-11 bard music uses per day. I haven't done the math, but just glancing at your builds it looks like you have enough music uses. Assuming my assumptions are correct. If your party does substantially more fighting per day, then scale appropriately. |

If your party does substantially more fighting per day, then scale appropriately. Up until recently, we only had one knockdown dragout fight per day, and sometimes a pathetic one that everyone could have use unarmed strike without any proficiency. I'll add in the uses/day each build has up above. Also, keep in mind that the Seeker of the Song can use 3 per round, and the 10th level storm singer uses 4 for Storm of Vengence. Ohh, and the Sublime Chord builds will probably be using one every round to boost caster levels. |
| Psifon03-14-05, 09:32 PM | If you are going to put all your building resources toward bardic music, I would like to know what you plan to do with all these uses in order to take advantage of this capability. I mean, even with spending 2-3 uses per round, I don't think you are going to run out at high levels even if all you do is go straight bard. so how come? |

I don't have any real need with the Stormsinger builds. If I run out, I can just start blasting with spells. I'm considering Born of the Thunders instead of Extra Music (flavor). However, with the Seeker of Songs, Bardic Music is all you have. Not a single spell. When bardic music runs out, you can either pick up a bow, or a sword. And the first refrain, 30 ft fire cone 6d6, isn't exactly massive at level 11. How many fireballs can your wizard put out at that level, and still have something left to give? I'm just worried I won't have enough of them. Basically, I've not played a bard beyond the one in the sig, and I want to make sure I won't run out of them. If others have played something like the above mentioned builds, let me know how often you run out, would ya? |
