Ok, I was wondering if there is a barb PrC out there that continues his bardic music advancement (especially inspire courage) and is also more fighting-focused. I don't mind if his spell progression is reduced or eliminated, but I'd like to get any or all of: better hit die, bonus feats, and better BAB. Or even an alternate bard base class that exchanges spellcasting for fighting ability.

Any help is much appreciated

The Warrior Skald in Races of Faerun maybe EXACTLY what you're looking for.

The war singer continues bardic music, lets you use more then 1 song at a time & has full BaB. It also has an ability called inspire recklessness which take from yours & allies AC but adds to attack, most people see this as a very poor feat but if you have a PA focused character capable of killing befor they get attacked back it is worth it.

Warrior Skald is good, so is War Chanter. I'm hoping in one of the complete books we get a bard deveoted entirely to music.

If it's fighting ability you want, I'd say go for the War Chanter (from Complete Warrior). You don't really progress in your bardic songs but you get access to newer/different ones, and your base attack is that of a Fighter.

If you want the "support"-type of bard (although make no mistake, War Chanter makes great support), I'd say go for the Dragonsong Lyrist from Draconomicon, if only for the +4 morale bonus to Str (since morale bonus to Strength stacks with most bonuses related to Str).

Thanks for the advice!

I looked up war chanter, but he doesn't advance the bard's own song abilities. So if you enter the class with a +1/+1 inspire courage, it never gets better. It does have better BAB and all, but I would really like to continue the inspire courage progression.

Warrior skald is pretty cool, hadn't seen that before. I just wish it didn't require power attack and cleave...I want to play an archery-focused bard. Sorry for not mentioning that in the original post.

I wouldn't mind an alternate bard base class that exchanges spellcasting for improved combat ability, if such a thing exists in any supplement or even dragon.

You need to play a martial Bard who eventually ends up with a BAB of +16 (4 attacks) and loads up on archery feats while still maintaining a significant portion of the Bard class mechanics. Here is your best bet:

Bard16 / XXX4
--------------------------
Where "XXX4" = 4 levels of BAB +1/Level classes.

Here are some strong permutations for such a build archetype:

Soldier of Light 2 / Fighter 2
Soldier of Light 1 / Spellsword 3
Soldier of Light 2 / Dragonslayer 1 / Spellsword 1
Dragonslayer 1 / Spellsword 3
Rokugan Ninja 3 / Dragonslayer 1

Mix & match as you desire, just end up with a BAB of +16. Some of the permutations give you 19 spellcaster levels. But none give you more than 16 Bard Song uses. Which is way more than enough. There is a magic item either in the DMG, A&EG, or MoF book that advances your Bard Song capability by 4 levels. Which is worth a look.

SoL-1 gives you access to the excellent Power Attack/Divine Might feat combo. Yeah, you are an archer, so PA is not needed so much, but with your uber high CHA Mod., your Divine Might damage will be mondo impressive on your many arrows you launch per round.

SoL-2 gives you CHA Mod. to Saves. Which is just amazing.

Food for thought ...

Snow Savant:

Divine might works with ranged attacks? I thought it was only with melee attacks...or did this change in 3.5?

Also, where can I find the soldier of light? And what are the requirements for the class?
