| Benvolio01-09-07, 03:26 PM | I apologise for my intrusion onto your august place of mathematics but I, a simple liberal arts student am at a loss. I have been given a few challenges by my storyteller/DM and I would like some assistance I also have a few questions of theory. I have spent a fair while reading firts and found pun pun to be neat and interesting I found the omniscifer that runs on pain an interesting role playing idea and that poor artificer has now replaced my original origin story of the god of knowledge in my own campaign, but I digress before I have even begun. First I tend to play bards and there are no good bard prcs or builds available through core cannon. My GM is a core fanatic and uses nothing outside of it. I also use nothing but core materials except for the occasional planar guide if I am feeling up to it. I would like to know if anyone has any core only ways to maximize fo bardic effectiveness. I have found that having a few smaller bards as backup singers for example that can use their own inspire cometance to increase your perform check can help, use of a think tank (or gossip circle) to boost bardic knowledge etc. due to the use of leadership and several other 'aid another' related fiascos my gm has made what he callse the '20 rule' a person is not qualified to help another person in a skill check or attack unless they are within 20 of the check being mad, for example I could only help someone with a +25 modifier with their performance if I had somehow managed at least a +5 myself (say from having a charisma of 12 having a masterwork instrument and being under inspire competance) I wanted to know how, with a 9th lvl bard with the leadership feat, a 32 point buy for myself standard golf for a 9th lvl character I should build myself and more importantly my band and backup singers using only the core materials. I have another question. it is more of a purely academic excercise than anything else. what is the worst most usleless possible buils while still staying true to core cannon and elite classes. an array of stats 16 15 14 12 10 8 their 16 must be in the primary stat for their class or if multi-classed it must be in the primary for at least one of them. the 15 must be in the primary for their other class or the secondary for their class if single classed. how to build the most useless character. and more importantly how to explain how that person happened. elite classes don't just grow on trees. for example the half aquatic elf druid/bard a pirate captain who has befriended the creatures of the sea and inspires the loyalty of his men. unfortunately he can't go on land (he'll suffer greadly if away from water) cant get along well underwater, can't wear metal armor, can't fight, and his companions are nerfed since they can't get competitive hit dice. Anyway I'm sure you can all see the ramifications. Its even pseudo plausible. A pirate captain overthrown and marooned on an island, learns the ways of the wild, gets his animal friends to help take back his ship and voila an interesting (but totally usleess) hero. a fighter with a strenght of 8 dex 12 is pointless, he's been weeded out of fighter school or been beaten down too many times. Anyway I'd appreciate the help. thank you for reading |
