Bards have just gotten a boost to their spell powers with the metamagic song & arcane disicple feats. With these feats a bard can get some great offensive spells and the ability to add metamagic feats to them.

Personally, I'm a much bigger Fan of the Sorceror Virtuoso build now. Free metamgic! Woot.

Sorta like a spelldancer/incantrix, non FR style.

Well, Metamagic song is not that big of a boost, really.

The maximum level of metamagicked spells is capped by your highest spell slot, and bards only have access to sixth level slots...

The advantage is that, different from Divine metamagic, it can be used with any metamagic you know.

It's not really a build, per se.

Sorceror to level eight, then Virtuoso, which grants you full spellcasting progression, and bardic music, which you can use with this feat. In 3.0 cosmipolitan does this, in 3.5 Skill Knowledge from UA will do it.

If your DM won't allow this, then I /believe/ you can get there through harper classes. I'm sure there's one with spellcasting progression at level 1 and perform as a class skill. Just drop all your skill points into perform for a level or two. Since it doesn't specify a performance style, I'd recommend Dance, and see if you can't get into Spelldancer, in the realms. I don't generally play mages, so I can't be certain, but I'm sure there's a Sorceror/Virtuoso build somewhere on the Bard or Sorceror build threads.

Thanx

you could try human paragon for perform but it costs you a spell level.
