| ed20904-30-05, 02:49 PM | ... this post got me to thinking: http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6067761&postcount=8 What about the Southern Magic feat (one of the FR books)? It allows one to "cast a divine spell as an arcane spell." The prereq for MT does not say anything about where the divine spell comes from - it simply says "must be able to cast 2nd level divine spells." Has this been erratad or clarified? It seems logical that using a feat to gain the prereq works pretty well. (BTW, there is also a non-campaign specific metamagic feat that pretty much does the same thing, Alternative Source Spell, in Dragon Magazine #325, that requires both arcane and divine spellcasting, and you caster level is one lower with these alternate source spells) ... now check out the last epic feat in this article: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ei/20031115a ... so, follow along. We'll be using a crappy build for this example: (swap in one level of cleric/druid/etc to qualify for Alternative Source Spell instead of Southern Magician) Wiz 10/Sacred Exorcist 2(for turning)/PRC 8 of choice ... Hmm, maybe Sorc or Bard/Sublime Chord synergises better with the whole turn check. Anyway, at 21st level you pick up Spell Siphoning, optimize a turn check for all you're worth, then go to town, trading turn attempts for spells of ANY level. Plus, I'm under the impression that divine spells don't suffer from arcane spell failure. Yikes! Anyway, just wanted ideas to better optimize turning for a non-divine character... |
