Nope, elven thinblade is 1d8, 18-20/x2 piercing - basically a upgradet rapier.

Elven Thinblade is better. Back in 3.0 with all the crit stacking, it was very broken (in the right build).

More so than the Rapier or Scimitar (or Kukri, for that matter)?

I think the breakeven point for the two is at about 9 bonus damage. So if you're sporting a Swashbuckler with a 30 Int, or even 20 Int and 20 Str, then Thinblade's better.

Not knowing if Elven Thinblade can be used two-handed for 1.5 * Str, you might get better milage taking a level of Exotic Weapon Master for 2 * Str to damage. If you're not a Wizard, or some other Int-based character, EWM would probably be better for your mileage since you focus on Str only.

Now to look up the idea of a Iajitsu Master Swashbuckler Exotic Weapon Master Weapon Master Disciple of Dispater...

Yes, Exotic Weapon Master/ Swashbuckler is the way to go with the Elven Thinblade. Iaijutsu Master is cool...but Weapon Master is funky in 3.5 with all the changes to crit stacking.

Bastard Sword - 1d10, 19-20 X 2, Slashing - Martial 2handed, Exotic 1handed
Elven Thinblade - 1d8, 18-20 X2, Piercing - Exotic 1handed

The bastard sword does (without crits) on average 5.5 + modifiers vs. the 4.5 + mods for the thinblade. (As a side note, this means that against things that can't be critted the bastard sword wins.)

Looking at the math and assuming that you hit on your entire crit range (if you need a 19 to hit, both have the same crit range since the miss doesn't threaten), then you get bastard sword doing (5.5+mod)*1.1 and thinblade doing (4.5+mod)*1.15 on average over time. Which is basically 6.05+1.1*mod vs. 5.175+1.15*mod. That means that the break even point where they do the same is 0.875=0.05*mod, or mod = 17.5. So if your total modifier to damage is less then 17.5, then bastard sword wins, if it's more, thin blade wins.

BTW, this doesn't include extra damage dice since that's not multiplied in a crit, and since no one uses burst weapons I won't bother figuring those in.

As a simple test, assume you do +10 damage. So a bastard sword does 15.5*1.1 = 17.05, and a thinblade does 14.5*1.15 = 16.675, yup that's less. Going over, assume you do +25 damage. Bastard sword 30.5*1.1 = 33.55 vs. thinblade 29.5 * 1.15 = 33.925.

Though as you can see, the total damage difference isn't all that beefy at "low" modifiers like +25. :D If you have much higher modifiers (liek some of the smite builds) then it means a lot more.

Cheers,
