Batman vs. Grendel [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-15-04, 03:12 PM I just went on a semi-rant over on the FR boards that involved the two greatest comic-book characters of all time, Batman and Grendel, the greatest because they have no actual powers.
So I figured I'd post a challange to see if anyone can develop true to form write ups for these characters.
I know Batman's been done before, most likely, but I doubt if most of the people here have ever read Matt Wagner's Grendel.
However, to those who have, I'd like to limit this to the two grendels that actually fought the Bat.
Hunter Rose and Grendel Prime.
The fact that the later is a cyborg sorta undoes the coolness of being bada$$ without powers, and I dunno if it can be made with D&D rules, but if anyone can do it it's the folks here.

12-15-04, 03:24 PM Perhaps you could provide some more information on the characters? Or indicate just what you'd like these builds to do? For example, are you more interested in batman being able to beat people up, or would you rather him be more focused on investigation and science? The former is going to lead to some unarmed melee monstrosity, while the latter might tend toward an artificer. We need to know what the priorities are.

12-15-04, 03:59 PM How about a Warforged Warlock with the Spell Thematics Feat "Mechanics".
Who launches energy blasts out of his right arm, has a cloaking device, and is not obscured by the nonsense of 'illusions' and whatnot.

Either idea is fine.
Have fun with it, I just wanna see the most creative builds of the characters.
Bruce is the easy one, as most people on here have probably had some exposure to Batman in some way shape or form.
What I'm really interested in would be someone who's read enough of the Grendel comics to be able to build either of his two itterations that I mentioned above.

12-16-04, 04:39 PM IMHO Both Bats and (Hunter Rose) Grendel would be Fighter/Rogue/Monks, add Ninja/Rogue PrC's to your personal liking. Prime would be a Half-(Iron)Golem fighter with a Brilliant Energy longsword and some Devoted Defender levels :D
