| vogster12-16-05, 08:05 AM | Ok, this build is mainly based on a build Frosty The Snowman submitted in the Single Class Build Thread. I liked the idea and thought I would try and improve on it a little but I need some help. 01 Bar01 = Power Attack(nat), Dodge(human) 02 Bar02 = Imp. Trip(wolf barb) 03 Ftr01 = Imp. Bull Rush(nat), Combat Expertise(fighter) 04 Ftr02 = Imp. Sunder(fighter) 05 Par01 = 06 Par02 = Shock Trooper(paragon), Combat Brute(nat) 07 Par03 = 08 Ftr03 = 09 Ftr04 = Leap Attack(fighter), Mobility(nat) 10 Ftr05 = 11 Ftr06 = Elusive Target(fighter) 12 Ftr07 = Combat Reflexes(nat) 13 Ftr08 = Karmic Strike(fighter) 14 Ftr09 = 15 Ftr10 = Hold the Line(fighter), Close Quarters Fighting(nat) 16 Ftr11 = 17 Ftr12 = Imp Combat Expertise(fighter) 18 Ftr13 = Blind Fight(nat) 19 Ftr14 = Imp. Toughness(fighter) 20 Ftr15 = Ok so first I need another dip into something to get rid of my odd number of fighter levels. The way I see it he is a highly versatile fighter that will probably use a halberd for tripping but could use anything because he’s not locked into a weapon by weapon focus. Does this feat lineup make sense? He is going to be human and I took human paragon levels because I still get a bonus feat, I like skills and I wanted the stat bump to make up for not being a half-orc or something. What should I change? Will this work out? Frosty I would appreciate any comments from you since it’s based on your build. |
| vogster12-16-05, 08:02 PM | So no response because it’s good or no response because I suck? I still need idea's on a 1 class dip to get me to an even number of fighter levels. |
| Nightshade12-17-05, 12:44 AM | What are your ability scores? High movement rate almost demands spring attack early. If you're not going with the weapon focus tree then I'd say 4th level. If your dex is fairly high, combat reflexes should come early too. |
| X-Codes12-17-05, 01:08 AM | Change that Fighter 15 before I baptize you with battery acid. |
| PhoenixInferno12-17-05, 01:22 AM | Change that Fighter 15 before I baptize you with battery acid. That's why he's posting - he's looking for ways to eliminate it. I would use a Dwarven Warpike and get into Exotic Weapon Master - Exotic Flurry, Exotic Trip, Exotic Reach. Ties you to a weapon a bit, but to get Exotic Weapon Master tricks, I'd say its worth it. |
| vogster12-18-05, 02:09 PM | While the battery acid sounds fun I think I will pass for now. That one the major points of this thread. I need a 1 level dip into something to get rid of the odd fighter lever. Spring attack definitely sounds good. I will have to try and squeeze that it. Where is the Dwarven Warpike from? |
| PhoenixInferno12-18-05, 02:12 PM | Dwarven Warpike is in Races of Stone, Exotic Weapon with reach, can trip, and set for charges. |
| PhaedrusXY12-18-05, 02:23 PM | How about stopping at Fighter 6, taking two levels of Psychic Warrior, and then going into Warmind (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/prestigeClasses/warMind.htm)? You'll lose a point of BAB, but gain alot of great abilities and the ability to take Psionic feats and powers (like Psionic Charge + Lion's Charge). Those last few feats are ok, but you won't miss one or two of them. (I'd rearrange to get those PsyWarrior levels earlier myself, so you can use Psionic Lion's Charge.) 01 Bar01 = Power Attack(nat), Dodge(human) 02 Bar02 = Imp. Trip(wolf barb) 03 Ftr01 = Imp. Bull Rush(nat), Combat Expertise(fighter) 04 Ftr02 = Imp. Sunder(fighter) 05 Par01 = 06 Par02 = Shock Trooper(paragon), Combat Brute(nat) 07 Par03 = 08 Ftr03 = 09 Ftr04 = Leap Attack(fighter), Mobility(nat) 10 Ftr05 = 11 Ftr06 = Elusive Target(fighter) 12 PsyW1 = Combat Reflexes(nat), Hold the Line(fighter) 13 PsyW2 = Karmic Strike(fighter) 14 Warmind1 15 WM2 Speed of Thought (nat) 16 WM3 17 WM4 18 WM5 Psionic Charge, [Sweeping Strike] 19 WM6 [DR 2/-] 20 WM7 |
| Khazra Reborn12-18-05, 02:48 PM | Hmmm, cool idea on the warpike. For a build using it, i like(as a rough, featless outline): fighter6/human-paragon3/marshal8/EWM3 Marshal using art of war to add cha bonus to trip attempts is a bigger bonus then any other class features i can think of, even size increases. Consider that you want a PAO into a firlborg, wartroll or similar creature. This leaves your highest starting stat (18) for cha, 5 level increases, an inherit item +1, human paragon bonus +2 & enhancement+6 to make a respectable 32 (or +11 to trip attempts). |
| vogster12-19-05, 01:07 PM | The psionics route looks cool and I will look into that but I will have to get that approved by my DM because we haven't really used the psionics stuff before. I will have to read up on all that too. I need to find a way to fit spring attack in there. With the +10 move from speed of thought I would have 50 base move. Anyone have any other ideas without dipping into psionics? |

Sweeping Strike is that awesome. :D Just keep the powers you choose simple, and you won't have to worry about learning all the psionics stuff. I would recommend Expansion, and Psionic Lion's Charge for sure. See the Warmind/Elocater build in my sig for more ideas for powers to choose. |
| vogster12-21-05, 08:22 AM | I read up on psy warrior and warmind and I really like them. Now the only thing I really want to do is find a way to squeeze Close Quarters Fighting back in and add spring attack. |
| vogster12-22-05, 12:15 PM | Any more ideas on this? I either want to find a way to squeeze those feats into the warmind build or find a good 1 level dip for my original build. I like the Dwarven Warpike idea but I think I might try that on another character. |
| PhaedrusXY12-23-05, 10:48 AM | Can you use flaws? ;) Close Quarters Fighting doesn't seem necessary to me. Just get a ring of Freedom of Movement. Spring Attack isn't a bad idea, since you already have all the prereqs, but I don't see how to get it in (other than flaws). |
| vogster12-27-05, 06:43 AM | Ok, so ring of freedom of movement would work. Maybe I can talk my DM into taking 1 flaw so I can pick up spring attack. |
