my players please do not read! :)

Hello im currently looking for feats for a certain BBEG in an adventure I am running. I needed to "upgrade" him from his previous level and decided to add more cleric levels and a couple levels of Black Guard.
So right now I have Cleric 13/BlackGuard2 and besides the feats of Power Attack Cleave, Improved Critical ( Warhammer) and Imp. Sunder.
1.) what other feats shall I select if I plan to use him 50/50 combat/casting?
2.) His Domains are yet to be decided out of Evil, Trickery and Chaos what 2 would be good for a NPC of this type?
3.) Is there anyother PrC I could use that would be better suited for this NPC then blackguard? ( my rational was Dark Blessing and aura of despair )

thanks in advance

Hello Lunar,

I would reccomend the Divine Disciple class from 8-13, then Blackguard 14-15. The Divine Disciple has awesome advantages (another domain, turns you into an outsider). The BAB slows down to 1/2, but it's still an awesome class. Imagine your players' faces when their "Charm Person" spell fails, and so on. The PrC can be found in the FR campaign setting, and an updated version is in the Players' Guide to Faerun.

Hope this helps. Happy gaming.

A Cleric15 or a Paladin1/Blackguard10/DivineCrusade4 would be a more dangerous BBEG than a Cleric13/Blackguard2. As it is PrCs that don't continue spellcasting progression don't mix well with base classes that rely primarily on spellcasting.

Cleric15
1 Power Attack
1 Cleave
3 Improved Sunder
6
9
12 Improved Critical (War Hammer)
15

A rather straight forward build. Use Clerical buff spells to strengthen yourself for melee combat, soften the PCs up with area effect spells, and follow it up by moving into close combat. If you like to use Cleric spells to boost your strength to ungodly levels consider grabbing some bull rush feats to keep the fighters on the floor.

Paladin1/Blackguard10/DivineCrusader4
+14 +13 +4 +7
1 Cosmopolitian Spellcraft
1 Power Attack
3 Improved Sunder
6 Cleave
9 Improved Critical (War Hammer)
12
15

This build is most useful if you think the BBEG might escape to return another day. More specifically, to return with epic levels. A 21st level Paladin1/Blackguard11/DivineCrusader9 is capable of not only killing your PCs three times before they hit the ground in melee but also qualifying for the Epic Spellcasting feat if you take the Cosmopolitian Spellcraft(3.0) feat. Put skill points into Knowledge Religion and Spellcraft each level and at 21st level you'll be a melee specialist who can cast epic spells alongside any cleric or wizard.

Also, Divine Crusader's spell list is Cha based so it mixes perfectly with a Blackguard's Dark Blessing. Divine Crusader is from Complete Divine. Cosmopolitian is from the 3.0 FRCS.

Cleric5/Dracolyte10
1 Toughness
1 Dragonfriend
3 Power Attack
6 Cleave
9 Improved Sunder
12 Improved Critical (War Hammer)
15

You get 15 levels of clerical spellcasting alongside the ability to summon an adult dragon for ten minutes a day and you get a wyrmling as a fosterling. Dracolyte has a Cleric's BAB and saves and a d8. If you have the Draconomicon this build is more or less superior to Cleric15 simple because all you lose is continued advancement of your turning ability. Unless you like undead that isn't really a loss.

If you want an evil cleric, just go for Cleric 15 with Divine Metamagic (Persistant) to get divine power up and running. Power Attack, Divine Might, and Extra Turning will make up the rest. You could also go for Cleric 10/Divine Disciple 5 to get the Outsider subtype so your arcane casting cohorts can polymorph you into something crazy like a kelvezu(sp?).
