| shamalamastreetman04-30-04, 05:27 PM | OK, I have a player in my campaign that pulled the "someone big and mean now hates you" card from the Deck of Many Things. Hehehe time to create a big baddy to make his life a living hell! The BBEG should have the following constraints: ~ ECL 15 ~ 32 point ability buy (see DMG) ~ 2x Level 15 money (see DMG) ~ Human (but templates welcome) The BBEG's build concept is: ~ He will have a ton of spells that hinder and hamper rather than kill (ie. Bestow Curse) ~ He needs to have a very high survival rate, because he sould be a recurring menace ~ He has to have teleport or some equivalent spacial displacement capability ~ Stupidly high DC's since the PC has great saves. The build I am looking for is very open ended in terms of source content. I will accept almost any d20 source book material out there (not just wizards stuff). This goes for spells, PrC's, Templates and Feats. Go crazy! :D |
| cryptictravler04-30-04, 05:52 PM | Take the savage species feat: assume supernatural ability. Then use the blink dog dimension door ability. Onece per round you can go 700+ feet as a free action. That's a full round of movement for anyone, even the uberfast dragon. I have a PC sorc with it, and trust me. it is a sweet deal. |
| Battousai04-30-04, 06:49 PM | If you are willing to accept any source... There was an Evil Dark Lord prc on the Prestige Class forums a long time ago:it was created to be a a recurring villain with abilities like Maniacal laughter, feceless minion or the dark lord never die... not very powerful, but so fun ^^ |
| PhaedrusXY04-30-04, 10:29 PM | A wizard using the Magic Jar spell intelligently is very difficult to kill, and it's hard to even know you're fighting the same enemy over and over. You can also do the same thing with a Lich, or even better a Lich using Magic Jar. :D A wizard (lich) using Magic Jar, and with an appropriate spell selection, would take care of all the things you said you wanted in the enemy. I'm not going to make a build up for scratch for you, though. Search the boards, there are plenty of ideas for building wizards on here, and for creative spell use. I'd suggest maybe a wizard/ShadowAdept with GSF in Necromancy and Enchantment, and maybe a level of Mindbender. |
| RabidWeasel05-01-04, 05:28 AM | Druids are excellent long-term harassment characters. They have many spells that influence enviroment and make things difficult for a party without directly harming them, (control winds, control weather, entangle, etc.) wildshape gives them excellent versatility when it comes to travel and hiding from or stalking the party, and they can break out with blasting spells if required. Anthro bat is an excellent class for druids, giving +6 wis at ECL +0. Given a base wis of 18, with a +6 item and +3 from levels, your anthro bat druid will end up with a 33 wisdom. |
| Sisyfos05-01-04, 05:57 AM | What are the PC and his party like? |
| shamalamastreetman05-01-04, 03:29 PM | Hehehe had a good laugh with that Dr. Evil PrC! Well the party consists of: Kobold/Half-Celestial/Rogue 6 (he pulled the card) Human/Druid 2/Bard 9 Human/Paladin 6/Pure-Blood 2 Human/Monk 4/Solar Stance Disciple 6 The campaign is a dungeon crawl deep beneath the earth. Very few exits are permitted for "down-time"! |
| shamalamastreetman05-03-04, 12:26 AM | So no builds? Have a game in two days! |
| Qaetar05-03-04, 01:53 AM | Why don't you check out The Consecrated BBEG (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=232211). I designed him specifically to hunt PCs. He's only got 12 levels, but I'm sure you can add on 3 appropriate levels. (Qaetar) |
| Sisyfos05-03-04, 03:12 AM | Option 1: This opponent needs to be evil? I was thinking about exalted druid with that nice amulet which adds 4 levels to his wildshaping. He could dimension door as free action and can turn into earth elemental to move through earth (nice for your underground campaign). Add a level of contemplative and you get CHA to saves. ------ Option 2: Dwarven wizard/earth elemental savant. Can move through earth at will. With starting con 20 and a con boosting item he will have good HP. Alternatively you could just give him the spell ghostform and take another PrC alltogether... or ghost template... ------ Option 3: rang/rog/Horizon walker/telflammar shadowlord. Concentrate on poisons, which can be pretty deadly harassments. ------ Option 4: This has been mentioned before: lich or wizard using magic jar spell creatively can be pretty darned nasty. Gottogo, Sisyfos |
| Ranthanas05-03-04, 11:38 AM | Bard 15. The PCs never actually get to catch the :censored: - he maxes out hide and move silently and flees when things turn against his side. On the other hand, he gives all monsters +3 attack and damage (Inspire Courage), has some highly useful spells (including a number of really annoying ones), can wield a bow. Give him a Lyre of Building to really **** the PCs off ("This fort wasn't here last time we came this way"- or even hide a brand new wall under a Simple Illusion). Other items almost all defensive (help him hide, improve his saves, make him move faster or fly, wands of healing etc.). Spontanious Dimension Doors, Dispel Magics and Greater Dispelling should also help him get away. Oh, I don't care what the PCs saves are- the PCs won't be able to resist fascinate. Oh, turn that Druid/Bard into a Green Whisperer *please*. (Green Whisperer is from Dragon #311). |
