TheMrBlack 06-28-05, 08:53 AM	Hey gang, I'm toying with the idea of a powerful undead behind the scenes bbeg. Now the thing is I want to avoid the common undead leaders, I dont want a lich for instance. What I was tampering with the idea of was a wraith or shadow necromancer. I'm thinking with an ecl of 20-24. YEs by time the players get ready to take it down I plan on them being epic leveled. I was thinking taking the Wraith template, maybe advancing it via Book of Vile Deeds, tossing on 3 levels of each cleric and sorceror or wizard, and from there taking 14 levels of True Necromancer. But I'm not entirely sure on it's spell casting capabilities, or if there is a way to ignore the 50% chance of missing things that are corporeal. Any ideas? A build would be great with the above, or something similiar even. Thanks in advance, Bill
Warlord Griffin 06-28-05, 10:39 AM	Here my friend is what you do for an unusal undead BBEG a lied to deathless, have you seen some of them, the Ascendant Councilor is powerful to say the least, make him a good guy, make him be lied to or corrupted and well, it is going to be funny to watch the good cleric try to turn something that he cannot.
PonTelon 06-29-05, 01:14 AM	I was working on an Undead big bad guy myself just now. It's only a level 10 BBG, but still a threat. Human Fighter 1 Vampire(+2 Challenge Rating) Spellstitched(+2 Challenge Rating) LifeDrinker(from Dragon Magazine #288 Oct 2001) 5 I gave him an Unholy Longsword(though higher level could get much better weapon) so he could use a shield, or use his offhand for a touch attack. One might ask, if he is based on a fighter and a class that doesn't give Spellcasting, then how can he be the necromancer?! Easily remedied. Spellstitched gives him Spell-like abilities. I gave him these: Bane 1/day Inflict Light Wounds 3/day Desecrate 1/day Inflict Moderate Wounds 3/day Animate Dead 1/day Inflict Serious Wounds 1/day Inflict Critical Wounds 1/day Dismissal 1/day Unhallow 1/day Circle of Doom 1/day Create Undead 1/day Fairly Decent low-level Necromancer without one level in a spell-casting class. Life Drinker PrC is mostly just for flavor. It makes him a Vampire among Vampires. This of course, assumes that your vampire has a wisdom of at least 18.

Death Knight template from Dragonlance Campaign Setting is interesting as a BBEG. Can apply to nearly any classed villian to pimp their ride, so to speak. Cheers
