I was just looking at Iaimeki's FL guide, and it occurred to me that the Beguiler could work well in such a build. It has the Trapfinding necessary to qualify for Loredelver, and Loredelver has Evasion and Bardic Knowledge. Takes a bit longer to get to FL than the standard Rogue2/Bard1/Druid1, but you only sacrifice one caster level. This may be common knowledge by now, or it might be impossible or impractical for some reason (I don't have my books on hand to check), but I thought I'd throw it out here and see if anybody had further thoughts.

Hmm... so it'd look like... Beguiler 6/Druid 1/Loredelver 3/Lyrist 10--that'd get you 11th level Druid casting, 18th level beguiler casting, 14 BAB (15 with partial BAB), and 13 levels for Bardic Knowledge.

Do you gain Bardic Music from Lyrist if you didn't have any when you got in? If so, you'd gain music as a Bard 10--Inspire Courage +2, meh.

I'm not really seeing the point. The BAB doesn't help since you won't be a melee type, the druid spells help a little but not much (low caster level).

I see Beguiler as being useful in the multi-threat aspect of the FL in that it gives you more options. I like that you can use many of the Evasion granting methods that don't grant Trapfinding, like Master Thrower, and still cover that role with the Beguiler. However I still see Sublime Chord casting or nearly Full Druid casting as being "better" than 18 levels of Beguler casting.

That makes sense. I think a Beguiler/Loredelver/Fochlucan could be handy for its sheer versatility -- I doubt if many builds have trapfinding, utility magic, and healing. But I can definitely see that a more optimized Fochlucan would have more raw power. Thanks for discussing my idea, and confirming that it's at least legal. :)
