Beguiler: Once more into the Breach [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-21-06, 02:35 AM Hello, I have to play a Beguiler for my group (they lack thief, so I smuggled this class to my DM). We begin lvl 4, and need some tips about good feat choices and/or PrCs

race: Elf
What I have so far:

Spell and Greater Spell focus (Ench)
Spell Penetration (our DM allowed "feat-buy" when we build the char. 1000gp/feat)

Skill points in Search, Disable Device, Diplo, Disguise, Gather Inf, Bluff, Open lock (less), Sleigh of hand (less), Sense motive (less), knowledge (Krynn)... etc..

No armor - yet, that remains to be seen, see lower -, only a MAge Armor. A Hat of Disguise (yhea!)

I wondered if I could take a level of Monk eventually. With a feat 6th level that would be something along the line of "Ascetic Mage", but as a Beguiler instead of Sorcerer. The idea is in the "Magic" sub-forum (so, scew the armor forever). Would that be a mistake?

For the bonus spell at lvl 3, I chose "distract opponent", best move I ever made :D

so... any suggestions?

10-21-06, 02:37 AM Kung Fu Genius out of Dragon Compendium will give you your Intelligence to AC in place of Wisdom in combination with a Monk.

10-21-06, 02:45 AM What age of Krynn are you playing in? If the Conclave has authority over magic, are Beguilers considered renegades, or do they conform to the rules of the Conclave?

10-21-06, 07:12 AM Oh, we are playing a homebrew version of Krynn (our DM doesn't like the fact that I might know more about the world than she does, so she changed a few things..)

The Gods just disapeared, the world is plunging into chaos. The adventurer party has been recruited by a "holier-than-thou" spell-thief (who'se player left last game anyway, so we ditched him) in a quest to find the artefacts.

Wizards and clerics lost their powers, but spontaneous spellcasters and druids kept theirs.

I am a Beguiler, Spy at the service of the Crown of Qualinost, and I travel across Krynn to seek potential treaths to my homelands. Mwahaha!

Actually, I think that Ascetic Beguiler would be neat, 'cause the level of Beguiler and monk would stack for the bonus to AC..

Anyway.. any other ideas?
