| samoosa69102-17-04, 10:41 AM | hey all I had a one shot game this weekend and using human fighter 6 I came up with a very plain but effective build. Works out quite well if you are surrounded. If this has been done before (probably has) sorry I would just like your comments on the build. human fighter 6 stats [elite array, 15,14,13,12,10,8 yes works out quite well too] str 16 dex 13 con 15 int 13 ---->level adjustment here wis 10 cha 8 equipment +1 full plate, +1 duom, gaunlets of ogre power+2 [major equipment] feats 1) dodge, mobility, combat expertise 2) sprint attack 3) combat reflexes 4) ewp duom 5) weapon focus duom 6) whirlwind weapon spec duom 7) 8) weapon master 1 9) improved critical duom 10) weapon master 2 11) weapon master 3 12) weapon master 4 power attack 13) weapon master 5 14) weapon master 6 15) weapon master 7 16) weapon master 8 17) weapon master 9 18) weapon master 10 cleave in this build you have 2 levels to spare, since your human you can either go multiple prestige class or multiple class. Highlights of the build: Reach 10' with whirlwind it is quite deadly, even with crappy roles you can still make due as long as you put your level adjustments into str, dex and int. If you can be large and use a large duom you get reach of 15' top it off with whirlwind has a deadly combination  Hope you guys enjoy..., comments welcome as always. |

Either change when you take the feat or swap stats around for the same effect. Also, Sprint Attack -->> Spring Attack at level 2? If so you need to delay that feat. It needs BAB+4 |

You can turn the extra +1 to hit into a +2 to damage, and thus get the benefit of both specialization with more versitility to boot. I made a similar build using the mercurial greatsword. Instead of taking either improved weapon focus or specialization, I took power attack and cleave earlier (and 10 levels of fighter). I also took Karmic Strike, Side Step and Elusive Target. There are some important differences in our two builds which center around weapon choice. With the Merc. Greatsword, I intend to get reach by using enlarge person or similar magics to make myself large sized. This means that I have a 10' reach, which is adequate in most circumstances, and I do 3d6 with my large weapon (that an automatic 18 points with Ki damage!). This is clearly a more massive damage build than yours. With the duom the focus is more on AoO's, and making the most of them. This means increasing your Dex and your Wisdom as high as possible, while still keeping a good STR score. Unfortunately you don't have the stats to support this. I would suggest trading your CON score with your DEX score, and adding a level bonus to DEX rather than INT. This costs you skill points but increases your number of AoO's in the round by two. In addition, you can buff your stats (even your wisdom) at higher levels cheeply by using stat-buff potions (cat's grace, owl's wisdom), or a friendly caster. That low DEX score really hurts though. If you are going to make a duom weilder, you need to up your number of AoO's for the round as high as possible. I would either change some stats around or take a heavier weapon. Even a normal greatsword is pretty gross with this build, and it saves you a feat. I would suggest a mercurial greatsword, but I don't want you horning in on my characters' racket ;) You will also benefit greatly from enalrgement magic. An enlarge person with a duom will give you a 20' reach, which pretty much guarantees that you WILL make all your AoO's for the round. A belt of command-word activated continuous enlarge person is only 4000 gp according to the item creation guidelines. This assumes that your DM allows it at all of course. A friendly wizard or a potion of enlarge person will do the job though. Karmic strike is another source of AoO's for you, and combined with sidestep you can get some pretty good battlefield control. Karmic strike, mobility and elusive target synergize well, as you can move through threatened squares with no net loss of AC. Any creature that hits you gets an AoO, any creature that misses gets tripped. Elusive target also synergizes well with whirlwind strike. Trade out your Duom for a spiked chain and you can be fairly triptastic. Just build a few trip feats into the build and take a level of barbarian (for wolf burserker). You can also add a couple of levels of exotic weapon master, which has some nice spiked chain abilities as well. Just some random and sleep deprived observations. I hope that helps. |
| samoosa69102-17-04, 12:21 PM | dex 15 int 13 con 14 str 14 (gaunlets of ogre power) wish 10 cha 8 This is not really a heavy damage dealer the point of this build is to maximize the reach and use combat reflexes along with the whirlwind attack. Hit all aponents at once, the reason for the duom is to make use of attacking an adjascent foe. With regards to feat requirements may have made an error on that. Why would i need high wisdom for this build? I don't understand that as for the feats: swap dex to 15 then level 8 adjustment into dex get 5 aoo's. As for spring attack can make it your 6th regular feat. 1) dodge, ewp duom, combat reflexes 2) combat expertise 3) ewp duom 4) mobiliy 5) 6) spring attack, whirl wind, corrected for missuse of feat requirements this is presuming you start at level 6 which we had, thanks for the input thus far. Once again this isn't a heavy damage dealer it's meant to take advantage of aoo's, reach, and low stats. Any other thoughts? Thanks for the tips thus far, and have corrected stats for feat requirements throughout the build somewhere along the line you should be able to bump up your str using a belf of giant str instead of gaunlets of ogre power... |
| Psifon02-17-04, 12:59 PM | Originally posted by samoosa691 Why would i need high wisdom for this build? As a 5th level weapon master you gain Superior Combat Reflexes. This ability lets you add your Wisdom modifier to your dex to determine your number of AoO's in the round. It is not a big deal, but as another source of AoO's it's nice to have available. Since your Will save is going to suck, a pariapt of wisdom is helpful there too. This magic item is a relatively low priority for your build, but once you get to the REALLY high levels and have a few 1000 gp to burn, this is a nice place to put them. |
