| OugonSayajin02-03-07, 11:59 AM | Hi guys, I have a lvl15 druid that wild shape into a beholder and use the assume supernatural ability of its eye rays... The problem is that i lose almost every goodie of gear when i become a giant meatball, so i have a question: Is there any feat or any kind of way that i can use a supernatural ability WITHOUT have to adquire the form itself? My idea is to use the 6 eye rays, as a free action, every round, but without having to become other thing that a giant ape and convserve all of my gear. Please help me be the most overpowered char ever! :D ;) :P |

| DaveTheMagicWeasel02-03-07, 01:03 PM | The only way that I can think of to get a creatures abilities on another form is Master Transmogrifist. Which is pretty crap because of the caster level loss. |
| Edea02-03-07, 01:15 PM | I'll bite: how exactly are you pulling this off? Probably Lords of Madness (Aberration Wild Shape feat) and Savage Species (Assume Supernatural Ability feat). Since non-advanced beholders only have 11 hit dice, afaict it's legit. However, I don't know if he can move :x. Is the flight/buoyancy trait carried over in Aberration Wild Shape? No books atm. |
| Emeramber02-03-07, 02:28 PM | At least in earlier additions, the flight/bouyancy of a beholder was purely biological. In essence, they were gasbags. So unless the physics has changed, despite seeming like levitation, its probably a gross physical quality, like weight. |
| OugonSayajin02-03-07, 03:15 PM | Exactly, bouyancy is a (ex) ability, wich i get when i use that aberrant wild shape feat. Then i used the assume (su) ablity for the eye rays. Anyhow i dont like the 20 feet of movement thing and i use another feat, eagle wings (wild) to get 60 feet flying speed. So i'm a meatball with big badass wings flying around and giving either a disintegration, finger of death or flesh to stone ray to anyone crosing in the way, as a free action, every single round... of course i can use too a charm monster, charm person, sleep, telekinesis or any other ray of the beholder almost at will... but its not enough, i just want to not have to become the meatball in first time! and then kill tiamat by myself ;) |

| OugonSayajin02-03-07, 06:18 PM | i''ve cheked the grafts, but they only give you the ability to use ONE ray, 3 times per day :weep: :embarrass :embarrass :weep:  and it cost 60,000 Gp! aren't there any feats, for let's say using a (su) or an ability without having to transform? something like "channalize ability" or something like that |
| Caelic02-03-07, 06:23 PM | Well...no. |
| Phoenix0002-03-07, 06:26 PM | try Beholder Grafts.......graft some Eye Stalks on...or A third eye, or a Replacement Eye...... the drawback...when you wildshape...you lose all the abilities of the grafts...unless you use the "WILD SHAPE VARIANT: ASPECT OF NATURE " :D Where is aspect of nature from? |
| Phoenix0002-03-07, 06:26 PM | How about egoist and metamorphic transfer? Don't have my books so I can't check. |
| Edea02-03-07, 06:31 PM | Making DC 19 Will Saves when you already have a -2 penalty to saving throws whenever you're wild shaped isn't exactly great, even at level 15 and as a druid, especially since you have to do that every time you use the ability. You're also getting a -2 to ranged attack rolls. What's your current Will save modifier? |
| OugonSayajin02-03-07, 06:42 PM | when i'm a meatball and using the eye rays (with the -2) my will is still +14. remember that the -2 is not acumulative |
| PhaedrusXY02-03-07, 07:11 PM | Meatwad got the money, see. Meatwad gets the honeys, G (http://www.adultswim.com/shows/athf/stuff/dancin_meatwad/). |
| Tahldrehlian02-03-07, 08:03 PM | What about the Ocular Spell metamagic feat from Lords of Madness? It lets you store spells in your eyes to cast at a later time. |
| OugonSayajin02-03-07, 08:07 PM | yeah, that will work but to store 2 rays for later use in giant ape form, its useful but not what i'm looking for... any other ideas? |
| carnivore02-04-07, 03:50 PM | Where is aspect of nature from? Unearthed Arcana...or Here (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/unearthedClasses.html) :D |
| Bengal02-04-07, 04:47 PM | aspect of nature appears to provide only specific abilities, none of which are what we're looking for. Perhaps you should instead look at gear that a beholder can wear. get some nifty goggles and a really nice cloak, and perhaps a decent belt. |
| aziraphale6002-04-07, 06:07 PM | aren't all creatures supposed to have as many magic item slots as any PC? and the items just kinda work around it? |
| PhaedrusXY02-04-07, 06:27 PM | aren't all creatures supposed to have as many magic item slots as any PC? and the items just kinda work around it?Not exactly. |
| Bengal02-05-07, 01:09 AM | for the most part, yes, but in some cases they may wind up turning into belly studs or cloak clasps or other fun things. |
| aziraphale6002-05-07, 01:21 AM | for the most part, yes, but in some cases they may wind up turning into belly studs or cloak clasps or other fun things. see, that's what i figured. like, maybe rings just turn into eye stalk collars or something. |
| kadeity02-05-07, 02:01 AM | lords of madness specified exactly how many of what sort of items a beholder can wear and where. It actually gets alot more of some, and cant wear others. the catch? well you'll have to have someone put them on you after you change into your eye tyrant form. |
| Bengal02-05-07, 02:17 AM | no you won't, you've got a ray of telekinesis. |
| Yadot02-05-07, 02:55 AM | Also as a 15 level druid you should be able to stay in beholder form all day unless abberant wildshape limits per day usage like elemental wildshape. |
| OugonSayajin02-05-07, 07:39 PM | yeah, virtually all day as a eye tyrant, hey nice idea of the telekinesis ray, thx :D |
| The Jake02-05-07, 07:59 PM | yeah, that will work but to store 2 rays for later use in giant ape form, its useful but not what i'm looking for... any other ideas? Natural Spell?? |
