| Flay Crimsonwind12-19-06, 03:39 AM | So I was inspired to make a Greed-type Character, like the Homunculi seen in Fullmetal Alchemist. I decided on Warforged, as he's a construct and has hellish armor, so I thought the whole adamantine body thing might work well. From there, I kinda lost sight of greed, while making an ugly impenetrable unarmed hurt machine. So now I wanna know if I can optimize this guy any more. Not entirely sure how well this guy works, but he'll be a beast either way Greed, The Ultimate Shield: Barbarian 7/ Fighter 6 / Tattooed Monk 7 Barb gives him a nasty addition to health and hitting with the rage, as well as some nifty abilities like uncanny dodge and improved speed. Fighter gives him the feats that I blew on improving his DR. Tattoed monk is because I felt that the unarmed damage output needed to be higher, since he's already a tank, so why not make him decently damaging as well. Normal: (1) Adamantine Body: Cause damn, he's got quite the shield bonus. Y'know, Ultimate Shield an' all...... (F) Improved Damage Reduction (F) Improved Damage Reduction (3) Superior Unarmed Strike (6) Improved Natural Attack (Unarmed Blow) (9) Improved Damage Reduction (12) Improved Damage Reduction (15) Improved Damage Reduction (18) Improved Damage Reduction Fighter: (F1) Improved Unarmed Strike (F2) Improved Grapple (F4) Endurance (F6) Dunno what to add. Iron Fists? Tattoos: (1) Nightingale (3) Tiger (5) Crab (7) Wasp Without the monstrous aid of the tattoos, he'll have DR 7/ adamantine, DR 1/ - , somewhere in the 20's AC, has unarmed damage of 2d6 (meh, okay..... can't I enchant his fists?), and the Greater Rage to knock any poor bugger the group meets down. |

| Flay Crimsonwind12-19-06, 04:03 AM | Roll With It (all in caps on purpose?)? A feat? Iono whatcha mean. HP should be fine with the two highest HP classes out of PHB. Heheheh, a Warforger Charger version is like a gundam, lol. |
| Endarire12-19-06, 04:21 AM | Roll With It is a feat from Savage Species that, every time you take it, it either grants you DR 2/- or improves your DR/- by 2. It requires 20 CON and Toughness. -EE |
| Arem_K12-19-06, 04:22 AM | This needs to be better. Mineral warrior costs 1 LA but gives you damage reduction 8/admantine and stacks with everything, so obviously 7 at level 20 ain't gonna cut it. I think what you really want to go with here is the half-golem template. It's got a Cr instead of an LA, but the MM2 tells you how to apply it to someone, so it is at least as legitimate as spell stiched. We really want a half diamond golem, but those don't exist, so I think we should go for half iron golem. Half iron golem gives you Dr 15/admantine, plus a huge str and natural armor bonus. It also gives an immunity to almost every spell effect, except for a few listed, which is an immunity that really matters in upper level play. Half golems also really fits the character flavor wise. The book goes on and on about how half golems are shunned and hated, and you have to make a will save or become evil when you undergo the process. I can't remember if golems are supposed to be able to trun their magic immunity off or not. I think I have heard both ways. |
| Flay Crimsonwind12-19-06, 04:34 AM | Heh, mineral Warrior is something I hadn't yet known about...... looking at it now it's kinda broken. I like it! And at only +1......... too bad a construct can't take it...... I'd go with half-golem, but it's got an LA of -, which means characters can't take it. My DM definetly wont let that go. T_T |
| X-Codes12-19-06, 04:42 AM | The best way to get DR is with spells and abilities, not feats. Human Hexblade 3/Sorcerer 2/Green Star Adept 10/Abjurant Champion 5 DR: 10/adamanite, 15/adamanite the same round a Transmutation is cast (Wraithstrike, Swift Expeditious Retreat, and Dragonskin are favorites). AC: 40 (-1 Dex, +6 Greater Mage Armor, +9 Shield, +11 Natural, +5 Deflection) Thats just preliminary stuff. Someone will likely come along soon and greatly improve upon it. |
