12-07-06, 02:12 AM Focus and Specialization (and some other feat) benefits apply while either thrown or wielded in melee. It might qualify you for more prestige classes (Exotic Weapon Master, Master Thrower, etc.). The weapon is valid for magical enchantments only available to ranged (such as returning) and to melee weapons (vorpal, for example).

If you're going to look into throwing seriously, then look at feats that support it. Brutal Throw and Power Throw typically work to increase your attacks and damage and Hurling Charge gives you a free throw before a charge. The best throwing weapons for simple damage are the Spear and the Harpoon. For other stuff, the Net, Bolas, and Harpoon might all come in handy.

Honestly, I can't think of many situations where it's better to have one weapon for both your throwing and your melee. Bloodstorm Blade is one of those rare ones.

Stormlords are fun, every javelin turns into a +1 Javelin of Lightning.

kind of depends on what you want your character to do. I had one that was a ranger, had an efficient quiver, could use two-weapon fighting with both his Urgosh and throwing multiple javelins/spears or whatever.
