Here's my situation, I am trying to join a campaign (currently lvl 7), 23k for equipment. I am open about classes from core books, complete arcane, draconomicon and have access to MM and MMII.

Fire away.

You should probably say who else is in the party, so we can shore up any holes in what the party needs, otherwise it's hard to pick a good type, because what if we make an excellent rogue build, but there are already 4 in the group...

Take a look here. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5367992)

Especially under "personal useful EQ" and "Basic useful EQ."

Thanks for that link... wish I had Arms & Equipment Guide, caltrops would be fun. Anyway, it turns out that I won't be needing to find good things to spend money on, taking a non-humanoid race for mobility (and scouting) brings my spare money down to zero (or just about), but makes me a perfect scout (how many other scouts can cover +700ft. per round? Unhindered by locked doors? without using a fly speed (80ft.)? at level 8?). Also, I effectively have DR 5/- in any non-antimagic field area, and DR 5/Evil in one.

Oh, and the only reason I can do this is because they just leveled.
