I fully understand this has probably been done, but I haven't found it. What is the highest armor class you can get using armor? Lets go with an AC before any spells or powers are used. Unless those spells or powers are permanent, that is. In other words, the character puts his protective gear on, and his AC is... As a interesting side, though, also give the AC of the character AFTER casting or manifesting. And, how long said casting or manifesting would take. Or activation. |

Or better yet, his mountain plate, with his extreme shield, and heavy armor optimization feat tree. With all that, plus the defensive items, you can have upwards of 45, before any spells or powers are in affect. I am sure there must be some classes that give you more armor. With dondge and psionic dodge, that is another +2, for a base of 47. So, at level 20, that is what you can have before any powers, spells, or class features. Going with the best possible combination, I would guess that a gestalt cleric wilder would be best, for the most useful spells and powers. What about PrC's, though? Are there any that give bonuses for this kind of idea? |

This of course, has no cap, because the armor has a max dex penalty, and doesn't apply to con. At least thats what other threads I have seen established. Which means, with the proper dwarf combination, you could have full plate, tower shield, full defensive (with enough cross-class tumble) and a maxed out con to get you ac of 10 + 13(+5 full plate) +15(tower shield, full cover) + 13(con, start at 20, +6item +5tome +5inherent) +6total defensive= 57. Pretty good, except touch ac is TERRIBLE. But thats besides the point, because touch ac will be terrible regardless. Now, add class levels that get you another stat to ac as well, but doesnt have penalties for wearing heavy armor(if there are any) and you could get even higher(60s perhaps). Hope that helps. |
| Grizzled Gryphon01-11-06, 08:45 AM | That helps very much, thanks!! Of course, with 3 feats, you can have the touch also be 57. Wild talent, Heavy Armor Optimization, and Deflective Armor. Of course, lets give this same dwarf Mountain Plate, and an Extreme sheild, and the Greater Heavy Armor Optimization, and you have a ac of +17 (+5 Mountain Plate) +8 (+5 Extreme Sheild) +15 from items of protection +10 from Con +10 base total AC is 60. Before dodge, psionic dodge, or any powers or spells. Hmm, not too bad. As I don't have my books handy, I can't look up the various spells and powers, and see what we could do there. |
