Best Bard Build [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-03-05, 03:27 PM Hi, I was wondering if there are any particularly good 'musical' bard builds? Basically i want the character to keep as much of the useful bardic music as possible, maxing out perform, and taking the Versatile performer feat.

Race-wise, preferably human, elf or half-elf.

If some flashy combat abilities (swashbuckler, master thrower) can also be thrown in, that'd be great.

02-03-05, 04:15 PM Bard 10/Virtuoso 10. Take Words of Creation (Book of Exalted Deeds) as soon as you can to boost your Inspire Courage ability, Snowflake Wardance (Frostburn) to let you add CHA to damage (and attack I think...). Virtuoso gives you some nice additional bardic music abilities, but slows your skill progression, but that's not a HUGE loss. Try to sneak in Nymph's Kiss (Book of Exalted Deeds) for an extra skill point/level and +2 to CHA checks.

A lot of people will jump on me for not mentioning Sublime Chord. I don't know that much about it, but its in Complete Arcane and a lot of people like it for reasons I'm not fully convinced of yet.

Bard 9/Virtuoso 1/Sublime Chord 1/Virtuoso 2-10. One less level of Bardic music ability, but 9th level spells(including bard spells) instead of 6th level spells...

Bard 10/Virtuoso 10.A lot of people will jump on me for not mentioning Sublime Chord. I don't know that much about it, but its in Complete Arcane and a lot of people like it for reasons I'm not fully convinced of yet.

02-03-05, 04:46 PM As long as you're interested in Master Thrower anyway, you might try Bard 7/Master Thrower 2/Druid 1/Sublime Chord 1/Fochulan Lyrist 9

9th level Arcane, 5th level Druid spells
16 levels of Bardic Music, 17 of Bardic Knowledge
+16 BAB
Lots and lots of skill points
