Suggestions?

Looking for backup melee character to my fighter.

Stats are 17 through 12 (one each)

Books are 3.5 core, complete, and FR.

Thanks

Read posting guidelines in my sig.

Something with Favored Enemy (Giant).

No Races books? That's a pity. There are some NASTY options in Races of Stone.

Still, I think you can do well with the sources listed.

Key elements:

1. Favored Power Attack. You're facing Giants; let's go old-school.
2. Elusive Target. Must-have. You do NOT want to be power attacked by giants.

Would you prefer to wade in and hit the giants so hard that they go down before you do, or Spring Attack in and then back out?

Giantbane form Complete warrior seems a rather obvious feat thus far omited.

The Gnome prc in CW is alright if I recall as are the two tactical feats mentioned above. Normally I wouldn't say Gnome for any melee combat character because they're small but with favored power attack that won't matter too much. I'd say probably 1 Ranger level and 4 fighter levels to lead in to the PRC but I'm at school and don't have access to complete warrior at the moment to confirm if that'll work.

I'd only go for two levels of Gnome Giant Slayer, if at all--an extra +4 dodge against giants is a nice thing to pick up.

PhoenixInferno, not trying to be impolite, but what did I mess up on? I gave stats, level, books, general direction (melee), and focus (giants). I looked over your guidelines. What am I missing?

What am I missing?

A first draft build.

We will have a far better idea of what you are looking for if you show us what you would do if you had to do it yourself.

PhoenixInferno, I presume this is what you had in mind, but LoP's excellent post does not actully include such language -- it's farther down in the thread.

A full listing of stats never hurts as well. 17 14 14 13 12 12 instead of 17-12 for example.

Seems clear enough to me he means 17 16 15 14 13 12.
