| Vapor IX01-23-05, 03:42 PM | I recently took the Leadership feat, and I was wondering what kinda cohort would help our party out the most? The group looks something like this: Human Wizard (me) focused on illusions, divinations, battlefield control Half-Elf Ranger not really focused on anything at all - his cohort, an elf ranger/rogue focused on stealth and scouting Dwarf Cleric focused on melee combat, with some occasional healing Feral Human Fighter/Barb focused on crushing skulls I was thinking either a Cleric with more of a healing bent, even though we seem to be in fairly good shape and don't get too banged up, or maybe a bard to patch up the holes? |

You could work with your DM to take some existing ones and make a Construct within your caster level range or if your high enough just flip threw all the constructs in the book, they usually list the materials and exp needed to create such creatures, my favorite is the shield guardian but that requires a caster level 15, ... a friend pointed out to me that if you have the money at caster level 14 you could make a greater stone golem... really nasty beast. |
| lokkesmadr01-23-05, 06:07 PM | Well, as soon as you have a leadership score of 17+ and a character level of 13+ a Warlock is a handy cohort for a mage. Sustained (though relatively minor) offesive powers and some battlefield control combined with the ability to make a scroll of _any_ spell in the game. Once he's filled your library to your complete satisfaction he's still useful as an additional battlefield controller using Chilling Tentacles, Wall of Perilous Flame and so on (Baleful utterance makes a good control invocation, giving you a chance every round to shatter an enemy's armor, weapon or shield) If you don't seem to be hurting too badly then a healing cohort would appear to be a little wasteful. And besides, that warlock can make wands of cure light wounds pretty cheaply for backup healing. |
| catharz01-23-05, 06:51 PM | Artificer? |
| Necros01-23-05, 08:08 PM | Cleric/Devoted Defender. Have him cast Shield Other on you. Give him Sacred Healing, Divine Vigor and Extra Turning. |
