| FruitOfTheShroom08-06-04, 03:33 PM | For the most part, I've seen people say that2 short swords is the way to go. What is the benefit of that? It's the same as a Greatsword. No matter the strength, it will always deal the same damage (2d6 + 1.5 strength) with both weapons. After taking into account Criticals and Magically Enhanced weapons does TWF get better. But even then, it's not by much. What is there to make Two Weapon Fighting more useful? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

The Dervish prestige class from Complete Warrior. :) There was a thread a while ago that went through and calculated out damage and all that jazz and compared TWF to two-handed fighting. I think they determined (memory a little hazy) that two-handed fighting would be better for damage-dealing potential and financial efficiency, while TWF was better for flavor and role-playing. Hope that helps! |

| Dave100108-06-04, 04:31 PM | the best use of TWF is for a fighter/rogue mix. The Sneak Attack really begins to shine, then. But you will not be a front-line fighter, so much as a sneak-and-kill commando. |

I gotta second the dervish class - they make TWF worth while by giving you tons of extra attacks (thousand cuts double your # of attacks once per day) and gives you full attack movement (dervish dance), all good things. Course, unless you can talk your DM into bending the rules you are stuck with scimitar's - but they aren't horrible weapons *shrug* YMMV Saethar |

Tired of silly strength damage that only counts as half with the off-hand weapon? Tired of picking necessary feats like Weapon Finesse instead of getting them as class feats? There's got to be a better way! Enter the Swashbuckler. You have weapon finesse (therefore you put your main stat in DEX to qualify for the TWF tree as actual feats, instead of trying to go about it the silly ranger route), extra damage from INT that applies to ALL attacks (which is basically a boostable weapon specialization), AND grace (+1 to reflex saves...eh? eh?). All of this for three easy payments of one level, ninety-five. That's right, three easy payments of one level, ninety-five. Order now and get Tumble as a class skill! Note: extra damage from INT only works on crittable creatures. |

For instance, if you are fighting something with X HP left over, and you kill it with a 2 hander you might be doing a lot of overkill damage. With TWF your damage is done in seperate hits so you get to spread it out. |

Thus to raise your average damage output to anything close to the THF you have to have a source of extra damage that you can count on. Saethar :b: |
