I'm making a 7th level Mystic Theurge, and I have 11,000 left to spend.

Is a Belt of Many Pockets worth it, or should I look into other magic items? As it is right now, my AC sucks pretty hard core (12 without buffs), but using spells I can get it above 20 without serious effort (mage armor/greater mage armor + dragon skin) so AC boosting gear isn't all that necessary. Thoughts?

What stat-boosting items do you have already? 11000 is nearly enough to upgrade one from +2 to +4, which could be nice. Heward's Handy Haversack is nice too, and cheap.

Also, do you have Prayer Beads? Get a strand of them minus the bead of smiting for 9000. Use the Bead of Karma to improve the caster level of your all-day buffs.

Just some ideas

Get a Strand of Prayer Beads (standard) with the Bead of Smiting removed. That costs 9k, but can give you a significant boost to your caster level (+4 for 10 minutes) which can be really useful for supercharging your buff spells or upping your spell damage.

We seem to be thinking along the same lines today ;)

I'll second Ithandor on the Heward's Handy Haversack. very convenient!

Yeah, I'm going to third the bead of karma. It is too darn useful for your 1 hour/level and your +x per 3 or 4 level type spells.

Could you round out your utility spell scroll collection?

Do you have a wand of cure light wounds?

Do you have any odd numbered ability scores? In my campaign, I allow for ability boosting items to add an odd numbered boost using the pricing guidelines in the DMG (ex. +1, +3, and +5 to ability scores). Getting a +1 is kinda cheap and if you have an odd numbered ability score (ex. 13, 15, 17), such an item would get you the +1 ability modifier.

Thanks for the advice, grabbed the prayer beads, haversack. My scroll collection looks pretty good (have about 30 level one scrolls). Got a wand of Cure Light, best 750 gp you can spend.

As for stat boosting, +2 Int and +2 Wis is what I've got. Also picked up a Lesser Metamagic Rod of Enlargement.

mage armour+greater mage armour= one wasted spell, they wont stack...
(they both provide the same type of bonus) and the prayer beads are expensive as all get out, the bead of wind walking is the most expensive one on there... so getting only the bead of karma I can see mebbe (dont have DM's guide on hand) but not just taking out the bead of Smiting cant make it 9k, can it?

I t5hink he was meaning either Mage armor or Greater mage armor.

The standard strand of prayer beads contains a bead of healing, a bead of karma, and a bead of smiting. By removing the bead of smiting, the value is lowered to 9k. If you were to remove the bead of karma, you'd technically get the bead of healing for free. Don't ask me why, and don't ask me why it's never been errated to make sense in the years it has been out either.

1. 1st level Pearls of Power are another one of those incredibly useful but dirt cheap magic items for your build.

2. Wand of Cure Light Wounds has already been mentioned but I'm going to second it.

3. Have your scroll collection bound into book form with handy index tabs for fast access.

4. Without knowing a bit more about your build than just "7th level Mystic Theurge" and a bit more about your campaign as well it's hard to be too much more specific. Are you going to be doing more dungeon crawling or more city intriguing, for example? Cleric or Druid? Which deity? What domains? What's the rest of the party like? Wizard or something else on the arcane side? Going for Divine Metamagic?

Monk belt.
Sadly, he's 2k short. It's something to buy for the future, however.

Monk's Belt is very nice for this type of character... in the future.

And... either a Wand of Lesser Vigor or a Wand of Cure Light Wounds...
(LV is a dependable 10HP in 10/R, where as CLW can be 2-9HP/1R)
750gp E.

Minor Stat improvement items - +2 INT or +2 WIS...

Whats the build?

Wiz3 or Wujen3?
Cleric3 or Druid3 or Healer3?

Metamagic Rod of Lesser Empower for those who like to play spells with lots of dice. Good for healing too... 9,000gp....

Metamagic Rod of Silence (Lesser - 3K, Normal - 11k) if DM likes to throw lots of silence spells.
