Well... new semester new campaign. Im usually the healer or the tank, so this time I thought Id try a more dextrous character... so here's Asuma the Poison Dusk Rogue:

LN Rogue-3.

Str: 14, Dex: 18, Con: 16, Int: 12, Wis: 15, Cha: 12.

HP: 22, BAB 2, Speed 30, Size Small.

AC: 23 *+1 Studded Leather 4, Mstr Buckler 1, Dex 4, Size 1, Natural 3*

Skills to max- Decipher Script, Disable Device, Escape Artist, Hide, Listen, Move silently, Openlock, and Spot.

Innate +9 total to hide.

Free exotic weapon proficiency- Shuriken.

So I have a first level and second level feat... what to do with them? Im thinking of weapon finesse and quick draw as I figure short swords and shuriken will be my main weaponry.

Any general builds? Im not looking for a min/max here but a good solid rogue who can protect the party from traps, decent at scouting, and a good secondairy combatant. Any ideas?

For the build criteria you mentioned above, I would build a baseline character with levels of Rogue and Ranger. The Ranger levels help you in your tracking/scouting endeavours and will compensate for the BAB hit you get from RHD/ECL + Rogue levels.

Since you get a bite attack and you'll have Sneak Attack dice, look into the TWF/MWF fighting route using a Greatsword, Armor Spikes, and your Bite.

Poison Dusk lizard has an LA of +1 if I recall correctly.
If you can buy that off with the Unearthed Arcana rules you will be back to ECL = Class level at level 3. Which is a good thing.

With that in mind.
Perhaps something more in flavor with the lizard folk would be the Scout class from complete adventurer. He is at home in the wilds and can do the trap/scout thing better than most other classes. the poison dusk also has that whole 30 ft movement which synergizes very nicely with the speed boosts and mobile fighting scout gives and emphasises. Couple that with either your choice of thrown weapons or dashing in under the feet of all those big folk and stabbing their ankles with skirmish damage dice or even hanging back with a bow. Just move 10 feet and get all those bonuses. (there are others on the board who could educate better than I on how to full attack and get the needed 10 feet movement to activate skirmish)

Sorry if I rambled. Weapon finesse would fit pretty well with what you need.

Well thank you for the response, thats an idea to look into. The flavor of the race has been changed a bit for the campaign however- the lizardfolk, poisondusk included, have their own semi-arabic civilisation to the south in the desserts, even farther than those of the human nomads. My character is rather odd in that he has strayed so far from home so young. As such, the scout class still works... though I think I feel more comfortable with the rogue.

On the other hand Ive had a good deal of experiance playing rangers, so perhaps it wouldnt be a bad Idea.

Poisondusk, with the +1 LA, Im not sure if Ill be able to "buy it back" or not yet though. No racial hit die, wich with the experiance total Ive been given leaves me with a third level character.

The BAB thing is good to note, Ill have to think about it.

To ease the Ranger/Rogue path I mentioned earlier, chose your Rogue levels as "Wilderness Rogue" levels as noted in the UA book's Rogue options. This allows you to take the Survival skill as a class skill for Rogue.

Okie, Ummm Lizard folks get a +5 to Natural armor or thats what regular lizardfolks get but I may be wrong sense I havnet looked at the other kinds of lizard folks for awhile :) if at all.

Scout/rogue combo would work, or maybe rogue/ninja, may work as well :)

Feat wise Grey Mage, I would suggest going imp. Init. then take dodge, mobility, and spring attack.

Items, go for elven chain and enchant it with silent moves and that one ability that allows +10-15 to Hide checks. :)
