| Cale_Myrkwood05-16-05, 07:25 PM | What would you guys say is the best gear for a pure Ranger to have? Level 15 and Level 20 |
| kegdrainer05-16-05, 09:26 PM | Your equipment would depend on what kind of ranger you are playing. Ranged? Two weapon? Race? How much money do you have to spend? You might take a look at the NPC listing to get a rough idea as to what they might have and then boost it by the difference in money. You can not go wrong with a pair of +6 gloves of dexterity for a ranger. |
| catharz05-16-05, 09:32 PM | Get some Hunting +1 arrows, some +1 Hunting Bane arrows, a Hunting bow, and a Hunting greatsword. Get a Pouch of Favored enemy detection too. |
| Cale_Myrkwood05-17-05, 12:43 AM | Oh yeah how dumb of me... This would be gear for an Archer ranger with the starting wealth listed in the DMG for lvls 15-20 not quite sure right now done have one on me. Thanks and sorry bout that |
| Maxwell Rose05-17-05, 01:17 AM | Gotta max out the weapon first, if you know your DM well you can meta-game these choices a good bit. Make good use of Bane if you know what kind of NPC's you will be fighting, this can also tie in nicely with your fav. enemy. Sure Striking in PGtF is nice for beating DR (+1) I'd go with a +4 Bane, Sure Striking, Flaming (or one of the others) and maybe Exit wound if your DM likes ot have you fight lots of guys at once. That's 98,000 to 128,000 depending right there. If your closer to 15 cut things like Bane or pluses. This bow should also be comp +4 800ish and be made in the elven style (see Races of the Wild) so you can fight with it if someone gets in your face +300 this cuts your need for melee weapon out so you can blow that cash on AC or stats I'm gonna put you in spidersilk, (+3 ac max dex 8 ACP -1) because its the greatest armor ever for dexy folk. Enchant that however you like it. (Underdark) highest dex buffing item you can get, of course. Also get your Str to +4 if it's not there all ready. Ring of Pro, Nat AC necklace (these can be a little low, as your not going to up in the front, hopefully) Bracers of Archery are nice, pick those things up asap. If you are the skill ***** in your group think about face gear that give you +'s to spot's and searches. Portable Holes are the stuff for anyone, you can store all kinds of gear in those babies. You can even use these as a super net to capture people. |
| carnivore05-17-05, 08:10 AM | try these: Crystal Mask of Insightful Detection: The wearer of a crystal mask of insightful detection can make Search checks and Spot checks checks with a +9 insight bonus. Moderate clairsentience; ML 7th; Craft Universal Item, creator must have 9 ranks in both Search and Spot; Price 20,250 gp; Weight 1/2 lb. also Psychoactive Skins: Psychoactive skins (also sometimes called ectoshells) are fistsized globs of psionically charged ectoplasm. As a standard action, a psychoactive skin spreads over and covers a Medium or smaller creature that projects the proper command thought; the same command thought causes the skin to shrink back down to its former size. Each of the various psychoactive skins is charged with one of a wide array of powers that constantly affect the wearer. A deployed skin completely covers the wearer and all his equipment like a second skin, allowing the wearer to see, hear, and breathe normally. It rolls away from various parts of the body as needed, such as when the wearer needs to eat or access a backpack. Held items or items specifically excluded are not covered by a psychoactive skin. Up to three skins can be worn simultaneously, although only the outermost is active in any given round (the powers of hidden skins cannot be manifested). Skin layers can be changed with a command thought as a standard action, which causes a lower-layer skin to come to the surface.
