| Kobold Paladin02-25-04, 07:47 PM | I need the best possable build for a Human Wizard 5/Fighter 1/ Elderic Knight 1 to opptimize their Leadership Score. I Last minute trashed my old Character consept of a Expert/Fighter and right now dont have the time to do all the work myself. I need to know at what Levels to take what spells and feats. Assume that I have a Stronghold becuase my DM is providing us with 35 000 GP to build one right at the start of the campaign, in fact it will be the partys frist mission. My stats are at Second Level: Wizard 1/Fighter 1 Str: 15 Dex: 14 Con: 14 Int: 17 Wis: 12 Cha: 16 The key consept is that I am going to vai for Party Leader and will need powerful followers (so I am not having a familier). |
| Dauntless02-25-04, 07:51 PM | wouldn't you have been better off with sorcerer (as an excuse to put a higher stat in charisma)? |
| Jeryg02-25-04, 08:44 PM | have a look into the Marshall PrC (mini's handbook) |
| PhaedrusXY02-25-04, 08:53 PM | I'd suggest going Wizard6/Fighter1 and taking Eldritch Knight later. You wind up with a higher caster level, the same base attack bonus, and better Will and Reflex saves. The only thing that goes down is you lose 1 point off your Fort save, but you'll get that back at the next level and then some. And there isn't really a "best build". It depends on what you want to focus on, more fighting or casting, or a good blend of the two? Also, what books are available? I guess you're using 3.5 rules? Look at the Gish thread for a bunch of fighter/mage builds. |
| Werrwaaa02-26-04, 09:06 AM | This does a little blending of 3.0 and 3.5 so you and your DM may have to do a little tweaking to make them all mesh right. But anyway, what I'd go for is Marshal from the Mini's Hanbook and some Skald Warrior from Races of Faerun. In Races, there is also a feat called Might Makes Right which adds your Str mod to Leadership for purposes of determining followers. If you aren't going for too uber a cohort, this would be a way to justify dropping high stat into Str for combat effectivness. This way you will have a good amount of followers, who are all under the effects of a few Aura's and Bardic Music. A follow-up option is Legendary Tactician from Dragonlance, but this mixes campaign books so it may be a no-no with you. Sorry the advice didnt follow the caster route you were going, but its an effective 'leader' character. [Alternately, sinc eyou are taking Leadership anyway, you could focus on Auras or Bardic Music, and then pick a cohort that focuses on the other. Its jsut a thoguht.] |
| nikademus02-26-04, 09:19 AM | Hello Kobold Paladin Why not go further and go Pal 2 Sorcerer 6 Eldritch Knight 10 Stats Str 14 / Int 12 / Wis 14 / Dex 15 / Con 16 / Cha 17 Raise cha at 4. Levl and dex at 8. level. Are you in melee fighting or could you be an archer ? As an archer i would go with the following feats : 01) Point blank shot, Precise shot 03) Rapid shot 06) Extend spell 08) Improved Rapid shot 09) Leadership or do you want take the leadership earlier in your career ? Take Alter Self as 2nd level spell and Heroism as 3rd level spell to increase your combat abilities. Paladin has Diplomacy as a class skill which could be a good addition to a party leader. If you are willing to neglect caster levels you could even go Pal 4 / Sor 6 / EK 10 and take the Divine Might feat. Nikademus |
