Help me build a tank for a level 5 party, we will probably be adventuring into our late teens in level so if you could give me a few tips in what feats etc to take when I level up it would be most apreciated.

Thanks a lot.

If anyone could help it would be great, I was thinking of a figher but apparently they become useless at higher levels (I posted another thread on that in the class forum) However if anyone has any really good builds for a fighter it would be great!

Thanks in advance!

What are your:
Stats
Books
Starting Wealth
Restrictions (above and beyond)
What kind of tank do you want to play.

Do you want to be a paladin, barbarian, fighter, cleric, etc? Give a theme.

Right off the top of my head you could go:

Paladin/Fist of Raziel
Cleric/Paladin/Exorcist of Silver Flame
Cleric/Sacred Exorcist
Cleric
Druid

The options are nigh on infinite.

Ok sorry, i'm new to all this.

My stats I will have to wait to roll in front of the group, but he will be level 5 so thats +1 to any stat (probably strength)

Any book really, my DM has a shelf full of them, although we're only using 3.5 books.

For the rest I don't know and don't mind, i'm only asking for ideas, to get me started.

Thanks you!

If you can get your DM to use books that heven't been updated yet to 3,5 I'd suggest:

Proto Feral Anthropomorphic Beleen Whale Mineral Warrior

Proto [Bestiary of Krynn] (+0LA +4Str Rage as Barbarian equal top your racial HD)
Feral [Savage Speicies] (+1LA +4Str Claws full attack on charge)
Anthropomorphic Beleen Whale [SavSpec] (3HD +8Str super high all other stats, Con and high natural armor)
Mineral Warrior [Underdark] (+1LA more Str, more Con, and good damage reduction)

His strenght should be around:
17 (base) +1 (lvl) +18 (racial) +4 (rage) = 40 [+15]
Constitution:
16 (base) +10 (racial) +4 (rage) = 30 [+10]

Do you want to focus mainly on dishing out damage, surviving damage, surviving in general (having good saves, etc), having a good AC, being mobile and able to keep an enemy occupied so that they can't kill your caster buddies, or something else? At level 5, it is a bit simpler to optimize, but harder to be really good at some things.

For a character that is physically hard to kill and can dish out good damage, I'd go with a dwarven Mineral Warrior barbarian/ranger/DeepWarden. I don't remember the earliest you can get into Deepwarden, though. Probably later than level 5, as with most Prestige Classes. But you could plan on heading in that direction in the future, and still be fairly effective at level 5.

Mineral Warrior is in the Underdark book, and I think Deepwarden is in Races of Stone.

Edit: here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=556556) is a thread on building a character like I'm suggesting
